A wise man in the film business once told me that no one in Hollywood starts out to make a Bad movie. And while they didn't here either, IMO, it turned out that way. First Bond movie I turned off mid-way through at home and never went back to watch the end. It ain't Goldfinger.

To me the emphasis on $ grossed is misleading as NONE of the PR releases address the massive inflation of Box office tickets across the USA, My local theaters have raised the ticket prices nearly 100% in the last decade along with the concession stand extortion.

Where are reporters' intellectual and moral integrity not commenting on this industries decline openly?
If the WSJ doesn't treat the Entertainment industry as a business, who will?

Hollyweird is lying about # of tickets per movie as much as Barrack lies about unemployment stats and inflation.

Stop spreading the dis-information please.

Clearly, Sony went to unusual lengths to keep SPECTRE in theaters long enough to get to $200 million. How much more could they have gotten if Skyfall were in theaters for 140-plus days? Another $5 million? Another $10 million?

No surprise, but with the $200 million mark achieved, SPECTRE is no longer in U.S. theaters.

I'd like an explanation of how spectre supposedly made money when BVS a similar priced movie is not

Warner Bros. needs Batman v Superman to take in more than $1 billion worldwide to recoup the money it spent on producing and marketing the film. It's currently at around $720 million worldwide, with repeated drops in ticket sales and a general lack of momentum making studio executives nervous that it won't reach the billion-dollar benchmark.

The only thing I can think of would be if SPECTRE had lower marketing costs than Batman v Superman. I don't know if that's the case or not, but I suppose it's a possibility.

here are the DVD sales numbers for Spectre from numbers.com
Pathetic sales, although its number 1 in the USA, because of the price slash it sold more "units", even though other movies have sold more in dollars. Like the martian and good dinosaur. 2015 release Jurassic world buries it, the last mission impossible does not, Ant-man is stronger than bond selling more first week and total

Skyfall sold over a million each in dvd and blu-rays. And according to numbers they made $100 million from 2013-14 when it dropped off the charts.

Obviously the Bond name sold Specter blu-rays, but its down a lot from previous releases. I wonder if it is because the disc market is dying? CR made the studio the most money and that was 99% dvd because Blu-ray wasn't a major format in 2007.

I'll post the other Craig bond numbers just so I can look them up later.
