Is it the same release redone. Or uneidited?
I believe the films contents are now the same in the UK & US. However there is a glaring discrepancy between the two releases.

The UK GoldenEye Ultimate Edition has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround & DTS 5.1

The US GoldenEye Ultimate Edition has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround & DTS 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1 surround as well as the original Mono track for the movies that had them like Thunderball.

The captioning differs of course.

Sorry to bump this thread, but does anyone know if there is a difference in quality between these two Dr. No DVDs or does one just have more features?

I think one of the versions is the movie only and does not include the extras. I saw a bargain copy of Thunderball after the Ultimate Editions were released. It had the Ultimate Edition packaging but no extras. :x

Does Sony own MGM? I thought that the recent deal between Sony and MGM was a result of the legal wranglings with the McClory estate and that was the reason why the last couple of Bond films had both MGM and Columbia (which is owned by Sony) logos.

I'm tempted to buy all of the volumes. Is it a better idea to just buy one's favorite Bond films on DVD individually?

The price used to work out better to buy the sets, and the sets were the 2 disc editions. I read they were released and essentially are the same dvd as the 2006 release. I guess it depends on how much you can find the sets for, if you only want 8 of the movies it might be better to buy them separately.
