Well it is not the worst -but it shouldn't be acceptable because of this. They had a better master and it was screwed up by Lowry restoration, Lowry didn't fix it and MGM didn't spend the money to do it right. I believe the first nine were 4k restoration and the rest (except for GoldenEye and The Spy Who Loved Me ) were scanned in 1080p.

Did you get the poster book with your set as well?

Nope. Speaking of TSWLM, it has never looked better. I guess the diffusion look is why the previous DVD releases used excessive edge enhancement.

And on GE, from what I understand they didn't use the Lowry transfer for blu but instead went back to an older video master which is probably why the DNR was used because of grain you wouldn't have seen on the old DVD. I don't think it's unacceptable, but it is too bad they didn't rescan it for a newer better master.

The story I heard is MGM found an original print of TSWLM which looked better than Lowry's master so used it in stead. The GE master was cropped and butchered by Lowry, I don't know why it was never corrected by them, gives them a bad mark well another bad mark.

The GE master to me is indicative of the industries attitude about selling home video and Blu-ray/HD DVD - although there were a hand full of occasions where a few studios were forced/shamed into correcting bad prints with a recall. WB's Fellowship of the Ring tinting issue was all but ignored by them. Studios figure the public will buy it and accept whatever issue the studios were too cheap to correct, usually they are right. Of course Sony is launching "Superbits" 4k Blu-ray which in theory would force better masters as a standard but...it's all Sony advertising nonsense.

The poster book that came with the set was a sampler basically, the complete book which I had before the set arrived is a monster.

I am wondering, does anybody own Skyfall on Blu-Ray??? I am wondering if the print on the disc matches the print on all the other discs in the boxset??? I am kinda torn about buying Skyfall or not. I would probably try watching it again but probably never again after that. I am just wondering if it's worth it to complete my 007 collection? Obviously I'd wait till the price droped on Skyfall.
Lol... There was a time I'd be first in line at the theatres to see Bond, first in line to buy the new Bond disc. Alot has changed since 2006 :(

Roger that! It acutely a mix of the old Blu-ray I got on ebay as people dumped their collection in anticipation of the 50th set and the new I bought on sale. It's a mixed group for sure, only some of each Bond's era discs match. It might bother me some day. :?

On spyfall I've seen a UK blu-ray pic that look legit and it the cover if the same as the Blu-ray box.

IF spyfall win an oscar it might go on sale other wise i'd say fathers day or black Friday. But ebay, amazon, half.com second hand will probably get it dirt cheap in a few weeks at least that way you avoid giving EON a fresh sale ;)

well that's stupid... they make a spot for it in the boxset but it doesn't match the rest of the discs.
Then again its the cream of the crop and deserves to stand out from the rest of the movies _.///

I think any buying the 50 th set expected it would match, technically it's not a 50th set, it's a 46th since the set only included movies 1962-2008

they actually fixed the set to include spyfall so now it is a true 50th set, no clue if they included the UV codes,

I suppose the early sets from last year might have a collectors value since they are different a 50th set that actually is a 49th :/

The bond blu-Ray set is back as amazons deal of the day $99.99 which cruelly has the 23 movie as well. $4.34 a movie even if you microwave bonds 21 through 23.

I know what you're saying. But less than 100 for 23 movies isn't a bad deal even if 3 of those don't belong to the same classic set. Getting all of the other bond for $4 each is cheaper the downloading them. The Star Wars set is rearer to find on sale even with Lucas monkeying with them it's worth the coin.

I rather download than buying the Bond blu ray because everyone of them has a Bond blu ray trailer that features clips from DC's Bonds, and I do not buy anything that has DC's Bond mug on it.
