Curious they will only show the classic series and they have a 35mm print of DAD I thought everything was digital after the last DVD restoration.James Bond Originals series at the Colony Theater in North Raleigh
Tonight, the James Bond Originals series at the Colony Theater in North Raleigh presents a 35 mm print of Pierce Brosnan’s fourth and final outing as 007 in Lee Tamahori’s “Die Another Day” (2002).
Halle Berry, fresh off her Best Actress Oscar win for “Monster’s Ball,” co-stars along with Toby Stephens, Rosamund Pike, John Cleese, and Judi Dench.
“Die Another Day” marked the 40th anniversary of the James Bond series. To celebrate this, the film is full of references to all of the previous movies – like Berry’s beach intro in bikini heavily resembling Ursula Andress’s in “Dr. No.” The website bondmovies.com compiled a handy list of the references that you can read here.
This screening of “Die Another Day” completes the original timeline of the James Bond series before it was re-booted with Daniel Craig as a younger and much more brutal Bond in “Casino Royale” (2006) and its follow-up “Quantum of Solace” (2008).
Incidentally Dench is the only cast member who carries over from the Brosnan era to the Craig era.
The Colony won’t be showing the Craig entries, but they will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Bond series with encore screenings of the new prints of the first 3 films starring Sean Connery: “Dr. No” (1962) on April 26th, “From Russia With Love” (1963) on May 31st, and “Goldfinger” (1964) on June 28th.
What better way to get ready for the highly anticipated 007 movie “Skyfall,” opening later this year, than to brush up on classic Bond?
“Die Another Day” starts this evening at 7:30, and admission is $5.50.
Oh, and if you go, be sure to look for a brief cameo by Madonna (who sang the theme song) as a fencing instructor.

DC as a young Bond, my @$$. Both Tim and Pierce were more like young Bonds than he is in their respective debuts.

I'd like to take the kids to see Dr No at the theater
Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.
