UK ITV Bond

How come ITV never seem to show any Bond films on ITV1 now. I know they are on ITV2/4 (and of course I can watch them on DVD) but I don't think ITV1 have had one on for ages.

Not sure. Sky don't seem to show them either.

I think once CR finally gets premiered on TV, then no doubt ITV will show a run of Bond films leading up to it.

Didn't Sky buy the UK rights to show Casino Royale?

I sure they did, but I can't find anything on Google. Maybe someone can clarify this for me. Maybe I'm talking nonsense as usual .

I didn't say that. :P
But I think you could be right Carl. Though I also cannot find a link.

Maybe the days of watching all the Bond films cut to pieces and in the 4:3 on ITV every summer (and bank holidays and Christmas!) are finally over.

Surely you have the films on DVD or VHS (Arrrgggghhh)?

ITV did a Bondathon over the Christmas period, but they were on ITV4.

Are the cuts to the old, PG-rated Bond films a new thing or have they always done it? I watched LALD a few years back and the shot of the agent being stabbed at the New Orleans funeral during the pre-credit sequence was snipped, though I'm sure I remember it being there in previous screenings of the film on ITV.

I think that the last time ITV showed Licience To Kill it was on at one o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. What a wonderful channel.

ITV seemed to excise bits at random to fit the films into the required time slots.

That's why I specified the PG-rated Bonds. I can understand them cutting LTK for a pre-watershed showing, but the scene in LALD I mentioned was a little excessive considering the stabbing was only shown momentarily to begin with, and there was no blood shown.

I see! They were either a bit too over the top with the censorship, or they thought they would cut a bit to make it fit their schedule.

Yes, I've got round to buying them now, seeing as they are all about £4.50 on DVD.

I'm sure CR takes pride of place too ehh Carl?
As for the Bond films on tv, the tv stations should be shot for the way they butcher films in order to fill the running time slot and cram as many station breaks in as they can.

Even though I have all the Bond films on DVD, I will always watch them when they are on TV. Don't know why.

Embarrassing confession time: I don't own any of the movies on DVD or VHS. They're on TV more often than the news, why pay money for them?

Like you say, they are constantly shown so I guess you can get by without.

you could at least record them from the tv...but you should really buy them. There all very affordable nowadays. You know it makes sense.

The experience of watching them on DVD is quite different and enhanced. Also the documentaries, deleted scenes and trailers are great fun.

The features on the bonus discs and the additonal material is some of the best on any dvd.
Of the UE editions the Roger Moore commentaries are some of the highlights and worth the money alone.

I've yet to hear them  , but I've heard plenty of positive reviews about them.

One of the things I enjoyed the most about the ultimate editions was the footage from screentests. I would love to see more of all the screentests they've done over the years.

It would be good to see them. Imagine a scenario where the fans get to see the screentests before the actor is chosen and then get to decide who they want as Bond via a poll.
