Bond farewell run on ITV

Postby Kristatos » Thu May 10, 2012 12:35 pm

ITV is having one last run of the Bond films before they head off to Sky, starting with Dr No this Sunday. Barry Norman in the Radio Times says that he is unclear what Sky hopes to gain from the deal, since he finds it hard to envision people signing up to premium movie channels just to watch Bond. I have to say I agree with him. Most people just watch them when they're on, and the real hardcore fans will own them on DVD or Blu-Ray.
"The whole idea of the Bond films--and I don't know if they haven't lost a bit of that now--was that they were paperback films, as it were." - Peter Hunt

Growing up TBS used to always had days of Bond every holiday season, I think it spike now but the movies are so edited it's painful to watch the car chase with Xenia is edited to hell. I did watch them on Encore but it is almost free in our cable package.

Cant imagine how expensive that is going to be. The DVDs went on sale a few years ago but man were they proud of them. First dvd set I got around the time of DAD was like $100 for only 6 movie maybe.

Quantum of Solace has been on ITV2 a few times - I've accidentally switched to ITV2 a few times when this atrocity has been on.
Bring back Bond!
