If they found human DNA in Findus or Bernard Matthews products do you think the government would keep it quiet? That would make a good thriller.

Hello, I've been a lurker of this site for a little over a year but after much thought felt I had to sign up.

It's been over a year since Skyfall was released and to be honest after viewing it I could never figure out if I liked it or hated for months, it's got some beautiful shots here and there but there was something ... off about it. Now to give background when I first saw Casino Royale, I was rather disappointed with it, it felt like they were trying too hard to make Bond this sort of rough amateur who feels the need to smart off and rebel like a bored teenager who just got told he wasn't going on that expensive Skiing trip but the final sequence gave me a bit of hope, "They may have taken this reboot a bit too far but the next film Bond will be the charming pro fans have grown to love.", then Quantum of Solace came out and he still was the insubordinate pouting amateur now with atrocious editing that leaves chunks of the film incomprehensible. After that I kind of felt a little disheartened about Bond and this was about the time I was starting to visit Bond forums (sadly didn't come across this one until around the time Skyfall was announced) and saw that the response to Craig was incredibly positive to the point where he is now the second coming of Fleming. How? Why? He's been the anti-Bond so far, he's not the Bond Fleming wrote about or the Bond we saw in the first twenty films.

Flash forward four years later and the hype train for the next film Skyfall starts chugging along, it was set up from the get-go to be the best Bond film ever before the title was even announced. Now I had little to no hope that this was going to put Bond back on the right track especially with the screenshots showing Craig with thinning hair and a gray beard but it does take a lot for me to actually dislike a movie so maybe if it's just a decent moody spy thriller then alright, it would be my last Bond film if they hadn't turn this thing around but at least I would have that. In the end, I was just left cold, what was the point of this film? I felt just as miserable as the main character himself and had put it out of my mind for a while. It's worse than the previous two efforts in that it's just this artsy empty vacuum of depression. It flat out insults the previous films by implying Bond is this worn-out, outdated blunt instrument and while that may apply to Craig himself it certainly doesn't apply to the character of Bond. Don't even get me started on the "exploding pen" line and what made things worse is that the whole script was just a mishmash of elements from Christopher Nolan's Batman flicks and Home Alone. They couldn't even be bothered to tell us what happened to that list of agents, did it wind up falling into the hands of enemies? Did it wind up on a Torrent site and is now in the hands of a sixteen year old master hacker from Nebraska? Well, I guess I shouldn't care about the only element that actually would make a halfway decent Bond film.

Sorry for the long-winded post but I'm really not happy with this direction Babs and Wilson took, I can't help but think Bond really did die in that helicopter crash in the opening of the game GoldenEye: Rogue Agent. But on a positive note I find this site fun to read especially the Skyfall novelization you guys put together which I have read at least ten times and still end up falling out of my chair laughing everytime I do. With Bond 24 rumors circulating and with Pierce returning to the spy genre with The November Man I felt there wasn't a better time to join up here.

Welcome and post often. Cr-egg is a disgrace and his 3 films were an utter insult to Fleming and it's all due to a schoolgirl crush Broccoli won't get over.

Favorite Movies: There are many to tell, but I prefer something that has a great storyline with loads of escapism and fantastic performance with over-the-top elements which would be pleasing. Action is the main genre I follow, and the spy genre would second that.

New to the forum but a long time Bond fan. I've finally found a place that isn't drinking the "Craig is the best Bond evar!" Kool-Aid Barbara Broccoli is handing out by the gallon. I think I'm going to like it here.

I should say I'm not a charter member of DCINB. When they announced it I was a bit taken aback but willing to trust that they knew what they were doing. When I saw Casino Royale I thought Craig was the next best thing to Sean. I was fully aboard the Craig train all through QoS (although it was disappointing) and SF (which I thought was great on first viewing). However, with some time to reflect and some distance from the excitement of a new Bond Im having 2nd thoughts.
CR I still feel stands up very well, and works great as an "origin story".

The problem starts with QoS. I ask seriously, if they had changed the character's name to Generic Action Hero how much of the plot and script would they have had to change? Not much, although they probably would have made it less depressing.

The other issue with QoS is I thought we were done with the origin story? why the need to drag it out for another 1:46?

Skyfall was beautifully shot, but had plot holes you could drive an Aston through. Think about Silva's plot, and think of all the moving parts and coincidences that have to come together for his plan to work. Absurd, isnt it? Now absurdity could be excused in a movie like The Spy Who Loved Me, with tongue firmly in cheek. But Craig's films do nothing if not take themselves seriously, so plot holes cant be waived away with "its just a Bond movie". I havent even got into the downright stupidity of Bonds plan for Skyfall (which fails btw, M dies! ).

I think my biggest complaint is that much of the fun has been sucked out the movies. Bond is supposed to be the one every man wants to be. But who wants to be Craig Bond? It seems miserable. Im not calling for a return to invisible cars or star wars ripoffs. But when the previous Bonds were at their best the movies were still fun.

Honestly the biggest reason I joined this forum instead of inactivating my account on commanderbond is that it's the only one that supports Tapatalk2 :P

Welcome to the forum, PE (mind if I call you PE?) It's not necessary to be "on board the Craig hate train" in order to post here. I personally have enjoyed Craig's performances in other movies, I just don't buy him as Bond. And I sometimes think that some of the posters here make their hatred of Craig a little bit too personal. So you're not alone.

Sorry Kris, but I cannot stand the sight of Cr-egg's lemony peeled profile and I never will. But that's just me, and a large chunk of the civilized world I would bet. Welcome aboard Problem Eliminator. As Tangina Barrons says in Poltergeist:
