Sort of. It’s a payoff for the fans of the comics and the fox marvel series sometimes short lived movie series.
If you’ve seen Loki season 1 you can more or less follow the logic behind it.
But this was part of Disney’s next marvel story arc, it was written before the actor playing the major villain (kang the conqueror) was sent to prison for domestic violence. But it’s Deadpool, it’s stupid but fun making fun is serious superhero movies while somehow having real emotional story telling.
If you like Deadpool you’ll enjoy it. Not really a spoiler, but Henry Cavill had a guest shot.

Latest Weekend: Aug 16-18
Alien: Romulus $42.0M
Deadpool & Wolverine $30.0M
It Ends with Us $23.8M
Twisters $10.0M
Coraline
15th Anniversary
$9.6M

I think Hollywood needs to ask itself a question about how to exist with digital releases. Because there’s a number of movies that don’t seem to be losing ground while there’s a digital release..imho there’s room to catch up to how current audiences want to consume movie content.

They were successful with bumblebee but really did nothing with that fresh start .
I don’t think year one will save them . $71 million worldwide , small budget of $75 , no advertising , at least nothing I can recall. Not going to make money

Latest Weekend: Oct 11-13
Terrifier 3 $18.3M
The Wild Robot $13.5M
Joker: Folie à Deux $7.1M
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice $7.1M
Piece by Piece $3.8M

Joker fell hard but it never was a big draw, it was sort of a one off pre covid film. If they’d released a follow up a few years earlier . But if it’s done well it’ll have a cult following and possibly longer in the Bo .

The Wild Robot $10.1M
Terrifier 3 $9.3M
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice $5.0M

I'm going to see it on Tuesday. I recently switched broadband provider, and one of the perks I get is two free cinema tickets a month. I used the other one to see Megalopolis, because someone had to.

I’m curious about if it’s really no good or if the same humor didn’t work the second time and it’s an ok follow up

It's done as a musical, which seems to have antagonised some people. I'm not a big fan of musicals, but at least I am aware of that fact going in, and will adjust my expectations accordingly.

That might actually work but I wouldn’t have been expecting it walking in.

A lot of people have said that. I thought it was quite well-publicised, but obviously not.

Honestly I only saw a few things about the joker movie. We stream all of our tv and do not watch a lot of content with advertisements. From what we saw I never had the impression it was a musical.
