We'll have to wait for the actuals, but it seems that the estimates got the order pretty much right, if not the totals. Only the #10 film is different. Peter Rabbit seems to have exceeded expectations. The studio forecast was $16 million, BOM thought that was too low and estimated $23 million, but the actual estimated total was $25 million. Sony will be happy.

Sony is getting winning hand after so long. Shame they keep Amy Pascal on as a producer she pretty much ran the studio into the ground, maybe she had too much dirt on them.

Haven't heard that one. I know there are people who have long maintained that he's a thieving little s**t and who fully sympathise with Mr McGregor, or whatever the gardener's name is (I'm talking about the original book here, don't know anything about the movie).

It’s of course started by a “charity group”
IMHO a lot of these organizations like PETA are small time blackmail groups, they make noise to get attention and the studio make a donation or the publicity gets them more donations, sometimes both. I don’t think they actually care about what they complain about.

But I haven’t thought about the story of peter rabbit in forever, I do remember being very young and thinking he was stealing from my granddad, who was a farmer. God must have been 4 or 5.

Anyway here is the excerpt from the MSNBC story

Peter Rabbit filmmakers and the studio behind it are apologizing for insensitively depicting a character's allergy in the film that has prompted backlash online.
In the movie, which earned $25 million and finished second at the box office this weekend, the character of Mr. McGregor (played by Domhnall Gleeson) is allergic to blackberries. The rabbits fling the fruit at him and he is forced to use an EpiPen.

Not a big surprise, though it means that 60% weren't, so it clearly has crossover appeal. Apparently, there are fake tweets going around warning of gang violence at screenings. James Gunn posted one that was accompanied by an image taken from an old news report that had nothing to do with the film.

Black panther is living the hype so far . Jumanji and the greatest showman are keeping up in their 9th week. Jumanji also passed Spider-Man 2 to become Sony’s second most profitable movie ever.

Very impressive performance by Black Panther. It got an A+ rating on Cinemascore, too, which suggests that all those good user reviews on other sites weren't just virtue signalling, since Cinemascore polls people as they come out of the cinema on opening night, giving them no real incentive to falsify their ratings.

Jumanji and Greatest Showman still hanging in there. If the prediction is correct, Black Panther would become only the fourth film ever to top $100 million in its second weekend.
