It's a real shame McGann didn't get to play the part in a proper series. He's great.

I've never watched the McGann Dr Who film.

Looking forward to the special.

I'm surprised that the BBC did not publicize the special Dr Who episode more.

Can't remember what thread it was on, but someone was asking about the absence of Tim as Rasillon. I just saw a thread about this on Gallifrey Base. As several people on there pointed out, there was a line about the High Council working on their own plan in another room, which presumably refers to the events in The End of Time.

Yes. Well, errm, they were going to do something so horrible they were the bad guys. So presumably the universe with Gallifrey restored is still not safe ( Rubbish RTD! Rubbish! )
I see why they'd say this because of the events described the last time the High Council was depicted they were knee deep in it leaving no room for 13 Doctors to show up with a magic answer to sort the trouble. Still odd The Doctor would seek permission from a lower council to vacuum pack the planet for storage.

I'll not defend the TV Movie as vehemently as I have across the Who Forums here, still considering the JNT left the series and what followed with the restart, shows like Monsters and Aliens , I contend the TVM was not as bad as some purist like to paint it out.

It had its moments, but it utterly failed in its task of introducing Doctor Who to a new audience. The third act in particular just felt like a generic '90s chase movie, and didn't do anything to convey a sense of what makes the show unique. Rose did the same job much better.

Rose did do a better job in way of introduction, then I suppose the TVM team thought they'd get a series to do it. However this was being produced by the man who would go on to ruin TinTin.
The chase was a bit useless and went nowhere, I suppose it was added in appeasing some know it all writer. Althou it was in a way reminiscent' of the James Bond era of Doctor who and Jon Pertwee dashing off in some round about pursuit.

Rose by itself is a better introduction whoever without the series to cement it I doubt it be a remembered as fondly.
