Piper, Agyeman, Tate, Simm for 'Who' return?

Post by CaptainLewis »

Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman, Catherine Tate and John Simm will all appear in David Tennant's last episode of Doctor Who, it has been claimed.

Simm is said to be in line to reprise his role as The Master, while Piper, Agyeman and Tate will join forces as companions Rose Tyler, Martha Jones and Donna Noble, The Sun reports.

The episode will also see The Doctor regenerate, with Tennant being replaced by Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.

An insider said: "This will be the most exciting episode Doctor Who have ever done. We really wanted to get all the companions back on board as a fitting send-off to David.

"And of all the enemies for him to face in his final episode, it makes sense for The Master to be the main one.

"Getting Billie to agree is a real coup, but she loved working on the show so much it didn't take much convincing."

Tennant is due to play The Doctor in four specials during 2009 before he leaves the show, while Steven Moffat will replace Russell T. Davies as executive producer and head writer in 2010.

The getting all the companions together idea might be more exciting if it hadn't already been done with the last season finale. Not sure about getting John Simm back though. He made a great Master, but shouldn't he have regenerated?

John Simm was brilliant in Life on Mars, as the Master I felt he was too over the top. The cartoonish hatred for the Doctor, when ever since the Master was introduced there was always a respect they both had of each other and willingness to work together when they were up against it.For instance the 7th Doctor's last show, Survival.
In a way John' Master was more akin to the TV movie -Eric Roberts over the top performance.

Derek Jacobi performance as the Master was to be savoured. He completely got what the Master was about. Of course he had the advantage of playing the master previously in the first 9th Doctor adventure the BBC produced. Derek also played an alternate universe Doctor in Doctor Who Unbound: Deadline, by Big finish.

For bringing the Master back there is so much they can do. I doubt John Simms needs to return.
With the Chameleon Arch, the Master could be anybody or become anybody.
Personally I like the idea of a Cho-Je (Planet of the Spiders) & the Watcher (Logopolis) like projection of a future regeneration being killed with the real Master out of view.

Although given it is RTD we are talking about I wouldn't be surprised to have the Master's wife actually be the Master.
