Moore at Falklands War tribute

Post by Capt. Sir Dominic Flandry »

I found this video of a tribute evening to the British forces in the Falklands War in 1982. It has Roger Moore in it a well as some other familiar faces.

What was the Falklands War? I've heard of it but no idea what happened or how it's regarded today. I associate it with Grenada invasion for no other reason than it's the same time frame

The Falklands War is a war between Argentina and Britain in 1982. The Falkland Islands is a group of islands off the south coast of South America. It is a British colony. Argentina has always claimed it. In 1982 Argentina had a military Add to dictatorship and they decided to send troops to occupy the islands. Britain sent a military task force to reoccupy it. Margaret Thatcher was the British Prime Minister at the time and it helped her become more popular. The war Is still famous today. Argentina still complain about the Falklands not being theirs and Britain has extra navy there now.

Nobody covered it in our history, we don't even cover most of the US history well either.
I remember some nuts in charge of Argentina said some crazy things a few years ago, they I think flipped their lids about a Brit documentary on hitler escaping to Argentina.

I wasn't sure it was thought of as a worth while war today, kind of like how politicians shifted the Iraq war into the bad war category with the Vietnam war. Looking back it would be better to leave Saddam and Qaddafi in place as bad as they were. Everything accomplished in Iraq was thrown away 2 years after the victory was established and Iran now runs unchecked well on the way to nukes.
If we ever need a real James Bond it's today.
Who cares about spectre send Craig to Iran, he'll probably be captured and tortured.. probably a bonus for Craig's bond judging by his movies so far
