Roger Moore - Skyfall biggest Bond film ever

Post by The Sweeney »

Sir Roger Moore: "Daniel Craig Is The Best James Bond Ever""Skyfall is going to be the biggest Bond film there has ever been."

Sir Roger Moore has predicted that Skyfall is going to be a huge hit following a private screening over the weekend, and has nothing but good things to say about the incumbent 007.

Speaking at "An Evening With Roger Moore" at the Rose Theatre in Kingston-Upon-Thames last night Sir Roger revealed, "I was invited on Saturday morning to a private screening of Skyfall. Now, I have always said that the best Bond was obviously Sean [Connery], but I’m happy to say when Skyfall is released on October 26, it is going to be the biggest [Bond film] there has ever been in the cinema, and he [Daniel Craig] will go down as the best Bond in history. It is fantastic."

Speaking to packed house on the former 007's 85th birthday to promote his new book Bond on Bond, Sir Roger went on to reveal how he had always backed Craig to make a big impact, "Before I saw Skyfall, I felt very angry about the way that the English press treated Daniel Craig. Before he’d started [Casino Royale] they predicted doom and gloom and they criticised him. I used to write letters of support to him, and I was so pleased when I saw Casino Royale because he was truly excellent in it. He’s a wonderful actor, if you’ve seen Munich or In Cold Blood, you know he’s a terrific actor."

We also happen to agree with Bond No. 3 as you'll find out in our Skyfall review here.

Bond on Bond by Sir Roger Moore is out now. Skyfall is in UK cinemas on October 26, and US cinemas November 9.

If Moore can say that Cr-egg is better than the originator of the franchise in 1962 Eon must have bought him off too since Sean refuses to attend the premiere and he had better get his pacemaker readjusted.

Sean refuses to do anything with EON - there is a history of bad blood between them, long before Craig came on the scene.

And I honestly don't think Babs is lining Moore's pockets to say nice things about Craig. I genuinely think Moore really likes Craig as Bond.

I'm not surprised. Not surprised he has another Books for sale either.

He loves Craig in whatever he does, I disagree with him for whatever its worth.

I wonder if Connery not showing up offends Sir Roger. as I said I'm not surprised Moore likes Craig and I'm not shocked he would be willing to bump Connery either.

With every new Bond film it's always said that it will be the biggest and best one ever, just take a look at some of the old posters. I can assure you that when the next Bond film comes out, it too will be the biggest and best one ever. I don't agree with Roger's thoughts, but nevertheless, I still think he's awesome. But I'll admit that it does annoy me that he showers Craig with praise so frequently, because it only adds more fuel to the already out of control fire. It's his opinion, and I respect that, but I wish that he would keep the praise down to a minimum at least.

Every James Bond movie makes more money than the last one doesn't take Miss Cleo to see it.

No, not always:

http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/series/JamesBond.php

YOLT dropped off from Thunderball. OHMSS dropped off from YOLT. Diamonds surged back, but only a bit above YOLT.

Live And Let Die surged and set a franchise record (worldwide). Then, Golden Gun had a big dropoff. Later, Licence had a noticeable dropoff from The Living Daylights. Quantum had a slight dip worldwide from Casino Royale. QoS did a bit better in the U.S. than Casino.

However, Skyfall is coming out four years after the last movie. Ticket prices are up. It will have Imax. It *should* do better than Quantum if it can hold the same audience. The question is how much.

George is too long in the tooth. If he is 40 years younger, then we'll go with him. I say we go for Paul Heyman if we're still in the wrestling figure-turned-Bond territory.

What is James Bond to Roger Moore? Easy answer apparently not much. The deeper answer is unclear, honestly Moore had to say Connery was the Best Bond just for the Fan bases reaction, none of these guys except maybe for Danno would dare say they are the greatest. But what is James Bond to these early actors, Dalton, Brozza, had time to live with the reaction to Bond and how it felt to be in the audience, Moore and Connery it was a job, one neither particularly liked, plenty of aspects of the movies they found distasteful and the pop culture nature of it. Over their tenure they witnessed first hand the sloppy preparation put into these movies, the halfassed attention to details from the books. It's about how some of the actors of the Star Wars prequels feel about their movies, these are the movies I was in, not theses are classic movies part of the biggest movie series in the world and I helped craft part of it.

For More Bond is just some movies he made no different than The Cannonball Run, it was never about the characters originally intended, the books or the movies. For him if the movie is half way enjoyable it wouldn't matter if the lead character was Jane Bond staring Angelina Jolie.

Whilst I respect Sir Roger Moore, there's no way in hell skyfall's the biggest bond film ever & I think he's more likely saying that to get some money and so he can keep himself in the public eye more, soon as cregg's left I have no doubt the next one will be the biggest and vice versa.

Also when I hear sites saying best bond film ever that's a pretty premature statment to make when you consider classics like goldfinger, from russia with love, the spy who loved me, goldeneye etc calling skyfall the biggest bond film to those just sounds insane.

No way does Skyfall beat Thunderball's record of 166 million tickets sold worldwide.

I interpret Sir Roger's comments to be a demonstration of his loyalty to Cubby Broccoli - a loyalty that continues years after Mr. Broccoli's death.

The same loyalty when he criticized DAD and QOS?
