Here you are Sweeney,
Part of the chorus of the song goes: “Let the sky fall/Let it crumble/We will stand tall/And face it all/together.”

The introductory lines, which follow a piano solo, are: “This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the Earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again.”
Roger Friedman
Adele’s theme song for the new James Bond film, “Skyfall,” written by Adele and a collaborator (probably Paul Epworth), is classic 007 in the manner of the best Bond songs of the past. It’s an ominous, dramatic ballad, with lots of gorgeous horn flourishes peeking out through Adele’s now trademark vocals.

Thanks to record industry sources, I got to hear a bit of the song. Readers of this column know we already broke the story of Adele singing the “Skyfall” theme a couple of times.

Adele and Sony Music are set to launch the single during the first week of October. It’s the singer’s first new song since her “21″ album debuted in January 2010. It’s unknown still how Sony will package “Let the Sky Fall” as a one off single since I don’t think Adele has recorded anything else to go with it. There is a “Skyfall” soundtrack score album scheduled from Sony for release on November 6th, but no information is available about tracks.

I'll believe it when the song is officially released, and not before ("released" as in "able to be heard by the public" rather than "available to buy", because songs often get played on the radio several weeks before they appear in record shops, or whatever they're called nowadays).

I think its 99.9% certain it is Adele now. What amazes me is the fact EON are still not making the official announcement yet, when everyone now knows Adele is singing the song.

Once again, EON are out of step, out of touch with what is going on around them.

Whats the point? Do they think its a PR stunt?
Aout one month before Skyfall hits the internet, almost one week for James Bond day. Are they saving the announcement for JB day? If they are I think they are losing a lot of ground right now.

Early September in QOS life time we heard the theme on the radio and internet, it was release for sale before the end of the month. CR theme as about the same timeline.
In the DAD time line I can only find the day the song was release for sale October 22, but it had to be on the radio weeks before that.

Interesting DAD theme some got very good reviews, top selling Bond them since VTAK, and a fan favorite
UK for the Channel 4 program James Bond's Greatest Hits, the song was voted 9th most popular James Bond theme by the general public. Those polled aged 24 and under voted it their number 1 favorite Bond song. Incidentally, while Die Another Day
The single spent 11 weeks at number one on the United States Billboard Singles Sales Charts and is her most successful title on the sales chart to date. It became the fifth best-selling dance single of the 2000s decade in the United States.[15] The song peaked #1 in 12 different countries. The song became Madonna's 35th US Top 10 hit, peaking at number 8. In Oceania, the song peaked at number five in Australia, staying in the charts for 19 weeks, and peaked at number 22 in New Zealand, staying in the charts for three weeks
Jesus is there hope for anything any more.

No Katied, not necessary. In this day and age of online hoaxes and internet BS, its easy to see why we find it hard to believe stories that get published via Twitter and the like.

Besides which, we still don't know if this is the same song my mate heard in HMV yet. Hopefully it may get leaked now on the internet, as I'm curious now to know whether the Adele Bond song is the same as what he heard that day in HMV.

If it weren't for Sweeney vouching for it I would have it dismissed too. At this point just about everyone believes Adele will singing the theme, if not the theme for the opening credits as someone pointed out to me a song for when the ending credits roll.

HMSS weblog had this on the theme song.
Then it hit us: at this point, it doesn’t really matter. Adele do the song?
Why such a tepid response? Because it’s not really going to affect the movie. After all, the title songs of 2006′s Casino Royale, 2002′s Die Another Day, 1999′s The World Is Not Enough, 1997′s Tomorrow Never Dies, 1995′s GoldenEye, 1987′s The Living Daylights, 1983′s Octopussy, etc., etc., etc. didn’t have a massive impact on those movies.
I think those of us and I'm guilty of this too, get caught up in they hype and forget to look at what any one feature of the movies actually matters

I think, with regards to the initial skepticism..it's what I call "rumour fatigue".(I'm trademarking that, by the way! )

Bond 24 rumors started already. The fans who care about this get jerked around by pranksters or incompetent reporters, gets to a point were its like whatever. Star Trek was supposed to have Kahn and that got people upset. News based on Twitter is too easy to fake.

Rumour fatigue with a dose of Occam's razor. Put it this way, if I was in HMV and I heard a Bond-sounding song with a voice that sounded like Adele's and the words "sky" and "fall" in the chorus, I would indeed wonder if it was the Skyfall theme. When I got home, I would check to see if the song had been released yet. When I found that Adele had not even been officially announced as the singer, my first thought would be "Oh well, obviously I was mistaken". Not "I know what's happened here. Someone who works at Abbey Road studios must have smuggled out a bootleg copy and then given it to his mate who works at HMV Guildford, who then played it over the in-store PA".

Actually the person in question who heard this didn't think that. The Abbey Road conclusion was mine. I still think this is the only real possibility, if it was in fact the Adele song he heard. How else would an unreleased copy of it end up in a HMV store???

Shouldn't be long now until we hear it for real. Then I will ask him if that was the song he heard in HMV. He's not the type of person to lie about it either in his response.

If it is the same song, then your theory is indeed the most plausible explanation. I'm not sure why anyone would do that, however.

Who knows? A dare, a prank? The manager popped out for 5 mins so they thought it clever to sneak preview it to the store? Maybe the manager himself ok'd it, and then realised he'd be in trouble afterwards - hence the official denial later.

I'm hoping the announcement will be made next week. I'm guessing they are waiting until 5th Oct.

Adele is confirming her involvement now.
http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a4 ... first.html
"I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall," Adele said.

"There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.

"But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end."

She added: "It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life.

"I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure."

Yes, a bittersweet dilemma. Skyfall will not be a Bond movie unless it has a Bond and Bond story that resembles :gun: classic 007. So I will listen to the song; if it is "Bondian" then I will like it as a song that could have been in a real Bond movie. I won't pay to see the film at the theatre, but will go the DVD rental route, like the previous 'non-Bonds' just to see a generic action filler.
