Skyfall Interview Round-ups

Post by Blowfeld »

I'm going to post link with synopsis to the various interview coming out to save starting new threads for all. If they are run of the mill interviews.
Seems shocked at the break neck pace production, short post production time, and of course loves Daniel as surely all must do.
Bardem gets his Bond moment
It's like a gift," says Javier Bardem on his role in Skyfall, the next James Bond due for release in October. "I'm 43 years old, so I remember going to see the Bond movies with my father and mother."

Bardem plays the main baddie - rumoured to be called Silva - to Daniel Craig's 007 and has recently been shooting the film across London. "It's also shooting in Istanbul and some other places I'm not allowed to say. It's amazing to think we're still shooting when we have to be opening in, what, six months."
Image
Same as waxy Daniel as the previous interview. In essence; 'we really know our biscuits this time', invoke the name "classic Bond" and "adds depth to" to complete the incantation. Not an ordinary bad guy Bardem and Maxwell Smart agree 'Yes, they are bad guys, but that is what they do, not who they are.'
Daniel Craig Talks 'Bigger, Better' Bond On 'Skyfall' Set
Javier Bardem's villain 'gives the whole film a richer content,' Craig tells MTV News.

The actors must be given talking points from the P.R. staff. Bardem's quotes are very similar to the ones from other actors on those "Inside (TITLE HERE)" featurettes on the DVDs.

"Every since I was a little BOY/GIRL, I wanted to be in a James Bond movie! I remember seeing them with my FATHER/MOTHER/GRANDFATHER/GRANDMOTHER/SOME OTHER RELATIVE! It's an honor to be in a James Bond movie!"

Not that it'd be worth the time, but you could type up quotes from Bardem along with others such as Kabir Bedi, Jeroen Krabbe, Lana Wood and others. Put them in a hat, pull one out and see if you could actually match it to the actor or actress. As long as the quote didn't have a specific reference (e.g. "when I was a little boy in the Netherlands" or something like that), it might be tough.

One other note: MTV must have gotten into see Craig & Co. on the same day as Entertainment Tonight. He seems to be dressed the same.

‘Skyfall’ Set Visit Sneak: Craig thinks four-year break help

Post by Blowfeld »

Directly contradicts what he said in several other interviews, e.g. he was not sure Bond 23 would happen with him, supposes this is the company line now.
‘Skyfall’ Set Visit Sneak: Daniel Craig thinks four-year break helped
“I think it helped,” Craig says. “I had to quietly just get on with it. We publicly went on that we weren’t doing anything, but we were secretly meeting. We just went on with the job and were very optimistic it would happen because I knew it would.”

Surprised we haven't heard something along the line of "I went to see James Bond movies with my mother's cousin's brother once removed" from one of the cast.

Bond will be softer, nicer in 'Skyfall': Daniel Craig

Post by Blowfeld »

Keeping the comments in rapciody going.
Once again EON has no clue why Bond was Bond, it wasn't vesper, it wasn't broken hearts, and he wasn't a primarily 'flawed character'
Image
"He's much softer and nicer now. It's just different hopefully, it's different again from 'Casino Royale'. He was hurt and broken-hearted; he's not so broken-hearted. He's on the mend; he's feeling much better," Craig said.

Instead of seeing Bond as a heroic man, Craig branded the flamboyant spy a 'flawed character'.

"His attitude towards women and his attitude towards the world is very dubious, but I think that's interesting, and I think if you throw him into a situation with really strong characters and you watch them battle it out, then I think it just makes for interesting watching," he added.

Here's a new interview from Monday:
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/intervie ... p?id=89099

Some highlights:

1. Daniel Craig essentially hired Sam Mendes

Broccoli...When Daniel suggested him, we were unbelievably thrilled that he would be interested because he is such a fine director.
Craig: I dunno. I just sort of had a flash, really. I had spoken to him at a party and we've known each other for years and obviously we've worked together before. I just said, "Would you be interested?" because it just seemed to me like a good idea. He's English. He grew up watching Bond. He's a huge Bond fan. He just instinctively knows about what Bond movies are about. He just seemed to be the correct choice.

2. Is Skyfall modern or classic? It's both.

Craig: It's his (Roger Deakins's) heart, and so, therefore, we're in such safe hands there that it has a classic feel to it. It feels very modern at times, but I won't lie to you, we tried to bring some of the feelings of older Bond movies into this film. It's there, but this is a modern movie. We're shooting digitally. We're doing it in the most modern way possible. We're just trying to make it feel as classic as we can.

3. They stick to the talking points.

Q: What about his (villain Silva) character?
Broccoli: He's very complicated.
Craig: Very complex in many ways.

4. Then, at other times,...

Broccoli: We all take it very seriously.
Craig: I try not to take it too seriously.

5. Read this one for yourselft.

Q: Do you feel like Sam has kind of upped the ante for the rest of the cast as well, since you have the likes of Albert Finney and Ralph Fiennes?
Craig: I keep listing the cast and, "Oh, Albert Finney's in this movie." I mean, yes, he has. He went and asked. I mean, that's the great thing is again we had a wish list of people we'd say, "Well, this we'd love." Everybody we wanted said "yes."
Broccoli: Everybody said "yes."
Craig: That's the Sam Factor.
Broccoli: Yeah, Sam and Daniel. Everybody wants to work with Sam, everyone wants to work with Daniel. We were very lucky. The script was great. (emphasis added)

Nobody wants to work with Danielle, let alone the movie studios that lost fortunes on him already. SHE lives in her own demented alternate universe where she is admired as the best producer in Hollywood. "For some reason, Craig tends to like doing his Bond interviews with producer Barbara Broccoli by his side". That says it all.

Daniel also hired Bardem. Thank god they don't need producers any more, Daniel is there. Pretty soon we'll probably hear a rumour Mendes really wasn't directing, he was a stand in for Daniel who directed the movie from in front of camera like Stallone did. _.// When Pierce suggested directors and possible stories he had gone too far, Daniel has a finger in every pot. What happened to the producers?

By the time the movie is out Barbara and Daniel will be saying it is a modern classic. Judging from the official comments, it's like they know they are in trouble for the last one but don't actually want to admit to it. "We retooled the problematic product's assembly line but are using the same blueprints, same managers, same product, selling to the same market, with the same business strategy. Problem solved"

Admittedly bond is hard product to change people have certain expectations, before CR came out they defended the reboot by saying they hadn't really changed a thing, when they had, today they are selling the new movie by we are bringing back the classic Bond feel sort of. :?: :?

a concise version of the interwiew would be, " It's gonna be Crap, but PLEASE watch it "
you want classic, then it's classic
you want modern, then it's modern
you want some ond stuff, then it has old stuff
you want new stuff, then it has new stuff

QOS 2 is on its way.

Not Skyfall but interesting:
Apted was surprised to land the directing gig for "The World Is Not Enough," after establishing himself with dramas ("Gorillas in the Mist") and docs (the "Up" series).

"For me (directing a Bond movie) was scary as hell," he said on the panel. "I thought it was a joke. I had never done anything like this."

After helming one, "it's exciting to know there are a lot of people who are waiting for your film but scary because there a lot of people ready to rip it apart. ... I just knew certain things had to be delivered -- the girls, the one-liners, the action. I was very much aware of the heightened expectations. You ignore those things at your own peril."

Well, the talking point for the previous films was exactly the opposite: "They asked me to do a Bond film and I told them I hated Bond films. Then they said that this is a reboot and I could piss all over the formula, so I signed on". I suppose this is an improvement.

I have to laugh at some "Craig nuts" who are comparing him to, .................................... Steve McQueen . WTF :?

McQueen was a huge talent and popular with audiences, one sucessful movie after another. That doesn't sound like
DC's career. If anything he's the Anti-McQueen, everthing he's connected to Fails. :D

Kinda sounds like Jerry Sadowitz, whose career is in the shadows.
