Noel Gallagher to sing new Bond song?

Noel Gallagher could write and perform the theme tune for the next James Bond film, according to reports.

The Sun claims that the former Oasis chief will hold talks with bosses of the 007 franchise in the next few days, to discuss the possibility of him penning the song for the new Bond instalment Skyfall.

A source, who said that Gallagher would meet film producer Michael G. Wilson in LA for the talks, revealed:

"They’re going to talk about potentially writing and performing the song for next year’s new Bond film. Nothing is signed or official, it’s just being discussed at the moment."

Previously, Noel Gallagher claimed that an unreleased song he’d written called 'Freaky Teeth’ would be perfect for the film series. In 2008, he said of the track: "I listened back to it thinking, 'That’d make a f**king great Bond theme. It’s a bit of a piss-take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of Americans."

The last Bond theme – for the 2008 film Quantum Of Solace - was a duet recorded by singer Alicia Keys and The White Stripes' Jack White.

Earlier this month, the producers of Skyfall denied that Adele had been confirmed to sing the theme tune for the film. It was also claimed that Michael Buble was in the running to perform the song.

Skyfall, Bond's 23rd outing, is due to hit cinema screens on October 26, 2012. Scroll down and click below to watch this month’s press conference which saw lead actor Daniel Craig speak about the film and producers finally confirm the official title as Skyfall.

You know what I am not going to give Sweeney a lot of crap over this, I do not know who this guy is. I was starting to think he was the guy behind Bush. I remember Oasis, just. To me he feels like another washed up rocker like Chris Cornell but that is not fair because he is not a big deal in the US.

Of the names floating around he is the least impressive to me but Alicia Keys and Jack White really sucked so maybe they are looking harder.

Most of my student will not know who they are. Oasis has not had a hit on pop radio here in at least 10 years. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds has a Paul McCartney & Wings feel to it. I could see them adapting The Death Of You And Me for a Bond theme. I think they are good choice musically speaking I doubt whatever their song for Bond is will be hit here anyway. If it can not be put succinctly in a ring tone my students will not care about it. Lady Gaga knows her target audience well.

Noel Gallagher has denied reports claiming that he will be writing the theme for the next James Bond movie Skyfall.

The former Oasis singer took to his official website to shoot down rumors that he will be meeting producer Michael G Wilson to discuss lending his track to Daniel Craig's latest 007 outing.

"I don't know whether you've seen a story that's doing the rounds about me being offered the job of penning the tune for the new James Bond film?" Gallagher wrote.

"Apparently I'm being courted by "'007 bosses'!!!!! A meeting will be 'taking place in the next few days'!!!! With some guy called "Michael G. Wilson" (whoever he is)!!!

"A 'source' says, 'Nothing has been signed or made official'!!!! Of course it f**kin' hasn't!!!!!! Who IS this f**kin' '"source"'? Has he been on the 'sauce'? Bizarre indeed."

The Sun recently claimed that Gallagher's existing track 'Freaky Teeth' had caught the attention of Skyfall producers.

Jack White and Alicia Keys performed 'Another Way to Die' for 2008's Quantum of Solace, while Chris Cornell's 'You Know My Name' played over the opening titles for Craig's debut Bond movie Casino Royale.
