So a man who ate with his mouth open and didn't know what a tuxedo was in Casino Royale has an ancestral seat. Riiiiight. They are just making this nonsense up on the hoof now.

According to someone on Gallifrey Base who claims to have visited the set, Skyfall
Spoiler
Lodge is actually the name of the home. No offence to any Americans reading this, but that sounds like an American's idea of what a British stately home might be called.

Funny comment by somebody at a movie site after he saw the blond Bardem picture and was basically Oh I forgot there was Bond movie this year. I thought it was funny but over here it does seem like there is a lot of other big movies happening but not a lot of attention going to Bond. I guess in Europe it is different.

Probably the fact that all the big blockbusters talked about currently are set for release in summer, whereas SF is still a long way off.

Couple that with the fact that EON are very shy on this one....no press release photos in sight.

If it were not for the paparazzi there would be no news coming off the movie. I think after Batman 3 is out the fall line up will be looked at closer but there are some big names this year they might be dwarfed ( ;) ) even then.

I think Eon is just going through the motions with this film knowing full well DC might be done. His contract should have been bought out but Eon is toooooo cheap to waste money. The green vegetable 'can't spare a square' too I bet. Very cheap. The glaring problem is that the directing and casting and script is pure trash for a Bond fan to enjoy and pay to see more than once. Clueless people and Pascal is a HUGE part of this problem. Ten years and counting since the last true Bond film. Look what we have to show for this decade of angst?

People are not going to care about Spyfail. The only place where it will get any positive play is the corporate fanboy boards.

That cheap polystyrene gravestone for his parents, with the plywood struts, seems a fitting symbol for the cheap emotion they're obviously going for.

And Uncle Tom Cobbley and alll! I only saw some of those names on the images that were up when I clicked the link.

Edit: It does seem to suggest that security on the film is leakier than Harry Belafonte's bucket (dear Liza, dear Liza).

The list of names in that spoilers isn't a list of characters from that day's shoot. It was taken from a list of most, if not all, the characters in Skyfall.

007 Collector, when it first posted pictures, had a picture of that list. The site quickly took it down -- the same way the James Bond Brasil took down images of the call sheets.

Basically the leaks have come from three sets of call sheets (and related material) that were acquired by two fan Web sites and a blogger in Scotland, who's been taking pictures that are spreading all over the Internet.

To quote Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest: "To lose one set of call sheets may be counted misfortune. To lose three suggests you're a bunch of f**king idiots".

Ugh. I don't think this is wise trying to go back to some made up Bond Home Town complete with grave stones.

Spoiler
If you can't make out what is written on that headstone, it says: 'In Memory Of Andrew Bond and Monique Delacroix Bond, Tragically Departed'. Along the bottom it reads 'Mors Ultima Linea Rerum Est', which apparently means 'Death Is Everything's Final Limit'. 'Orbis Non Sufficit', aka The World Is Not Enough, is usually recognised as the Bond family motto (see On Her Majesty's Secret Service), but perhaps it was feared viewers might see it as a confusing reference to the Brosnan movie.

Regardless, any Bond fans reading this will immediately recognise the names as belonging to James Bond's parents, who died in a climbing accident when he was young. (The Skyfall name seems a subtle acknowledgment of this). According to reports, following an attack on London, Bond takes M back to his ancestral home in Glencoe, Scotland - which Bond creator Ian Fleming stated as Andrew Bond's village of birth as part of Bond's obituary in the You Only Live Twice novel - also known as the Skyfall estate. The estate includes a chapel and graveyard, where many generations of the Bond family are buried: other headstones include Valentine Bond, Robert Bond, Celia Bond and Kathleen Bond.

A few of those names might even ring bells for those of you who are uber-mecha-super-ultra Bond nerds: Ian Fleming's father was called Valentine; his grandfather was called a banker called Robert, while his brother, a respected travel writer called Peter, was married to Celia Johnson, star of Brief Encounter. Kathleen Bond could be inspired by a number of people, including Kathleen Pettigrew (the real-life Moneypenny) or Kathleen Kinmouth Warren, daughter of Admiral John Godfrey (the real-life M). There could of course be a Kathleen in Fleming's family I'm unaware of.

The story of Bond's parents has been mentioned in passing before - most recently by Alec Trevelyan in GoldenEye - but it's absolutely perfect for Bond's ancestry to be such a prominent part of the 50th anniversary movie. The amount of care and attention on show bodes very well for the rest of the movie, while finally laying to rest the irritating rumour that every Bond actor is playing a different character, a notion pushed by Die Another Day director Lee Tamahori (which should tell you how much credibility it deserves)!
