Focused Free-Writing: BOND 2121

I have a couple of ideas I’d like to bounce off the writing click here. Some of them will likely be no good so I’ll take it slow keeping it one at a time.

First concept submitted for approval

Bond 2121

Don’t be distracted by the name. The idea is essence simple and very down to earth. Sort of a Batman Beyond nameless and featureless future with our hero transplanted to a new canvas. By transplant I don’t mean frozen or cloned by HMSS for a mission in the future. However feel free to have fun with that idea. :)
What I intend is James Bond in a time slightly ahead of our own but the year will never specially be nailed down. Major advantage is Bond will be free of the baggage of the 1940/ WWII origins. The 20th century and the early 21st century baggage as well.

The character in essence remain the same. Same like, dislikes, same proclivities for sports, sex and adventure. The adversaries will be the same as well but free to play with the future technology to achieve their dastardly goals thanks to the fruits of our imaginations.

The draw of this concept for me is the essence of Fleming’s stories would be easier to achieve if the world for it is carefully crafted from the get go. Casino Royale was an unbelievable plot in its day, in London 2153 or 2053 a carefully embellished history can be in place to support the rickety structure of Casino Royale. You Only Live Twice can still have the Tiger of a suicide squad but in this future form it would be of a nameless conflict only alluded to.

Admittedly this is more a exercise than a finish product. The Draw of it is the clean slate and prefect tense to achieve to fundamental characters and adventures Ian Fleming intended.

Sounds like Dominic Flandry who is a James Bond type of spy working in the future. Although you don't mention intergalactic travel.

Sort of like Spiderman 2099 and Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century?

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Not really.
It is a basic James Bond of the future. Some relationship with "M" the same military history the same personal history only transposed to a future template. The sexual attitudes could be tweaked to be more appropriate for a audience of this day or tweaked to be more as Ian Fleming had them as a implied recognition of the outrageous sensibilities of a future society.

My vision never went beyond prettier cities and cooler technology. Intergalactic travel, would be fine. Would there be Alien menace? An Alien SPECTRE perhaps.
