Tech thread

Post by kater23 »

OK guys: I know y'all are a pretty technologically savvy bunch.

So here's my deal: I'm getting an iPhone from Santa. I thought I should start this thread so any of y'all who have iPhones could help me out if I have any questions or problems.

Plus, we kinda need a tech thread. cell phones, video games, TVs, the whole deal! 8)

Getting pretty proficient at the iPhone..it's pretty easy to use-I set up my email within the first day which I considered a HUGE win. And I FaceTimed with someone the other day(video chat)

I phone is great. Easy to use easy to transfer to.

I miss android sometimes but last phone I had was left behind in software updates. iPhones stay in the soft wear loop for a good 4-5 years.

Did you get the iPhone 6 +?

I got the regular iPhone 6-my sister-in-law has the 6 Plus. It seems more like a tablet than a phone, IMO.

The 6+ sort of is a tablet , Apple is finally catching up to android there. But they lag behind with a ton of cool features.

I still have my iPhone 5 just put a new battery in to keep it going.
I'm waiting for Apple to just make the iPad official a phone. It does 80% of what the phone does maybe more.

I had to go to the Apple store today to have them help me set up the Apple ID on my phone. We got there right when it opened and no fuss, no muss-literally took 15 minutes to do! I tried to set it up myself on Christmas(with a ton of people around-HUGE mistake!) and couldn't do it. Got the Apple ID set up and was downloading music immediately!

that does work well. My google play has gotten better still not as smooth as Apple.

Apple had to beef up security because it was so easy. I had Apple iTunes for a long time because of my iPod and digital movie redemptions. One year Christmas Day my account got hacked, downloaded a app and two hours later my account was hacked. Luckily I dint have any credit cards on file, they added credit to my account to redeem some stupid game that was big at the time.

They changed my country and other data, email, got my account back before Apple could help because of second Apple email linked they couldn't know about. What made me made was Apple was closed for Christmas and it took forever to get help on the phone, I don't know if they still do it but all iTunes problems had to be handled through chat.

That was a long time ago now. And apples has gotten a lot better.
I'd really like a newer model with finger print scanner. Just be cool to log back in or buy a album with out typing out the password

Yep..you have to(IMO) jump through a lot of hoops. But given security concerns, yeah, I *totally* get it. They've made some things easier-you can redeem gift cards by taking a picture of them with your phone, for instance(saw that myself today-I was amazed!)

I have trouble with it recognizing me at times. switched cases thinking maybe the camera wasn’t getting a clear view. As I start typing in the pass code and it unlocks.
I miss finger print ID, I worked more reliably but most people I talk with actually like the new camera system better. Maybe my phones defective?

Does anyone watch videos on Youtube about older technology , for example form the 1990s. There are videos of people buying old technology in US thrift stores which are often massive.

CRT tvs were better. :typing: People carry on using them, but when they finally blow up they have to switch to a flatscreen as you cannot but the CRTs anymore.
