Commonwealth Games shambles

Post by The Sweeney »

Yep! It's officially a shambles here in Delhi.
Now the big question is, will the games actually go ahead?

If it does, then it is a disaster just waiting to happen. I can forsee stadium roofs collapsing on athletes heads, or athletes collapsing by the wayside, doubled over with Delhi Belly, or worse still, Malaria.

If it doesn't go ahead, then this again will be a world shocker. Either way, India lose

Yikes. I just went and looked that up..I can't blame anyone who doesn't show up, if the venues, etc. aren't there or are half built. Forgive me for being ignorant, but don't they get a bit of leeway time for building stadiums, like they do with the Olympics?

I wonder what the problem is? I watched the Indian Cricket League on TV and they have built some wonderful state of the art cricket stadiums. I know India has some security and infrastructure problems but it should be easy to build functional buildings.

Not familiar with these games. My first though is corruption whoever got the money to get everything ready embezzled it. Very sad for the Indian People, not a good mark on them because of a few corrupt officials.

Yup! Spot on Doctor. Corruption has been rife here with this one.

They've had this contract for 8 years, and the place still looks like a building site. The next couple of weeks are going to be interesting to say the least....

I never left....(cue the gunbarrel) :007:

Actually Kris, not much been happening in the world of Bond lately, so there's not been much gossip to talk about.

Looks like the games are going ahead.

The USA should join the Commonwealth. Perhaps it should have the Queen as head of state and have a Prime Minister like Canada.

The games have been quite good, although some of the attendances were low.

I did prefer Land of Hope and Glory to Jerusalem (Jerusalem is being used now) as England's anthem.
