Mel Smith has passed away, aged only 60. Not The Nine O'Clock News was essential viewing when I was a teenager. RIP.

In other, sadder news, Dennis Farina, who played Detective Joe Fontana in Law & Order has passed away, aged 69. Or 17, if you like, since his birthday was on February 29th.
