A gunman wielding an assault-type rifle and a handgun took hostages and opened fire inside a crowded Florida nightclub, killing approximately 50 people and wounding 53 others before dying in a gunfight with SWAT officers, police said Sunday.

Police Chief John Mina also said the shooter had some sort of "suspicious device." He said the suspect exchanged gunfire with an officer working at the club around 2 a.m., then went back inside and took hostages. Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent in Charge Danny Banks said during a news conference that the mass shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism. He says authorities are looking into whether this was an act of domestic or international terror, and if the shooter was a lone wolf.

"This is an incident, as I see it, that we certainly classify as domestic terror incident," said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. Image

About this I think too many have been allowed to forget we are at war. People in western country's feel safer than people in the Middle East so it's easy to forget with the exception of what authorities like to call random lone actors most do no fear terrorist attacks.. Anyone who has been to Middle East can tell you first hand what we consider freedoms and rights do not exist in the rest of the world.
Our leaders lets us down by not taking what these terrorist say seriously and warning people "hey you are a soft target." Local police are not going to be equipped to handle random situations like this but at least warn them and the communities of the dangers so they can try to position a few protections.
I wouldn't be surprised if terrorists target churches in the us next, synagogues and non-radicalised mosques are equally legitimate soft targets to these people's minds.

the story I Read had a synopsis . Steep driveway car in neutral, I'd like to say accident.

I'd like to know what kind of car it was. That would tell me a lot about what happened . Some have faults that would cause accidents

Makes NO sense unless he was drugged up or did not deserve a driver's license.

Not *every* celebrity death is drug-related. It sounds like his car slipped out of gear, rolled down the driveway and crushed him against his mailbox. Police are saying that it was a freak accident, and that they do not suspect foul play

Wow, the grim reaper has been working overtime. Robin Hardy, Caroline Ahearne, Michael Cimino and now Sir Roger just tweeted that Euan Lloyd, who produced his films The Wild Geese and The Sea Wolves, has passed away.

Your link doesn't appear to work, Captain. Here's an orchestral version:

I never thought I would see such violent times in the United States in my lifetime. Another three police officers murdered in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Sure some cops are bad, some maybe are racist but my god it's nothing like if was 60 years ago!

One news report said that police weren't targeted, at least initially. It was a gun battle between regular citizens armed with assault rifles. Let those words sink in for a minute....

Racism runs both ways. Do not forget that, as the liberal media does.

I haven't seen the reports but I call BS on the regular citizens with assault rifles, real military rifles are illegal for regular citizens and two this the second mass cop killing in as many weeks. What was Fleming said about enemy action ?

Second part that pisses me off is Obama essentially giving a pass to the cop killers then demanding everyone else give up their guns.

The logic fails, terror attacks from whoever and we shouldn't have guns.
But we should trust the cops that are never there when you need them will make it in time if they are not busy killing a Latino who are gunned down more often than young black men.
On one hand he say we are right not to trust po-po then he say give up your ability to defend yourself and trust big brother, who can't be trusted.
