what is the deal with all the doves now demanding war with Syria? Honestly I don't want to do anything in that part of the world, far as I can tell there is no achievable goal for us as a country to get behind. Reminds me alittle of how Clinton could bomb a "aspirin" factory in Iraq when Saddam got frisky violations un sanctions /Clinton got frisky and a scandal erupted

USA spying revelations have shocked me what bothers me is we have top democrats and republicans telling all of us not to worry about it. The reassurances do nothing but worry me because we know how completely their security can be compromised. the IRS a much lesser agency in comparison has become the wing of a political party something Nixon tried to do and failed and now they want our health records as well

What gets me about the Intelligence debate is we are told it is a choice between them snooping where they shouldn't be violating our civil liberties or another 911, followed up by this is the way its been for years now so its all ok. Thing is NSA and a few others were created in secret and unknown for most of their existence, we the people never agreed to their creation or the mandate the politicians gave them.

It's a shock as he died suddenly and was still working - I often watched him on al Jazeera.

Let them kill each other already. I do not want any involvement in this. As democracy has spread over the Arab middle east utter chaos and death has also ramped up by the masses. No matter what you do, nothing will change. Hate is in their nature and all in the name of religion? Bring back Mubarek and Sadam Hussein.

Very sad - he had a troubled life.

RIP David Frost. It seems like the end of an era with him and Alan Wicker gone.

The government shut down has closed our official lobby located in the beacon of the Statue of Liberty, but Obamacare is in full swing!
We here at DCinB are actually singed up as an official ACA Exchange! Most of the moderators are ACA Navigators as well! When filling in the official three page ACA application remember to check the Craig Not Bond box, failure to do so will result in automatic application rejection.

RIP Tom Clancy

Post by Goldeneye »

Sources: Author Tom Clancy dead
By CNN Staff
updated 11:17 AM EDT, Wed October 2, 2013

Author Tom Clancy, whose novel, "The Hunt for Red October" propelled him to fame, fortune and status as a favorite storyteller of the American military, has died, according to sources with his publisher and family. He was 66.

The cause of death wasn't immediately available.

A Baltimore-born former insurance agent, Clancy was known for writing meticulous thrillers focusing on political intrigue and military tactics and technology. He published 28 books -- including a new novel yet to be released.

Several were made into Hollywood blockbusters, including "The Hunt for Red October," "Patriot Games," and "The Sum of All Fears."

Seventeen of his novels appeared on the New York Times best-sellers list, according to his website. Many of them reached the No. 1 spot.

The sometimes perilous business of spy thrillers

His writings also provided the inspiration for the "Rainbow Six," "Ghost Recon" and "Splinter Cell," video game series.

His writing gained him a loyal following within the armed forces in the United States and abroad, giving him inside access that frequently informed the plots of his books. But in a 2003 CNN interview, Clancy said he was always careful not to reveal classified information or sensitive details of how the elite troops he often wrote about operated.

"I'll never decide for commercial reasons to put something in that endangers our national security. You just can't do that," he said in a 2003 CNN interview. "There was one thing, I discussed with a friend of mine in the Royal Navy. I told him a story I knew, and he said, well, Tom, you may never repeat that, as long as you live. And I haven't."

His new novel, "Command Authority," is scheduled for December publication.

RIP. Last of the great novelist, nearly all his books were a thousand pages.
