Deadliest Catch Captain Phil Harris Dies

Post by Dr. No »

Captain Phil Harris Dead (Updated): Captain Phil Harris of Cornelia Marie: Deadliest Catch Captain Dies – We have been hearing the most shocking news that Captain Phil Harris is dead. It has been reported that Captain Phil Harris has died in an Anchorage hospital at the age of 53. It has been confirmed that Captain Phil Harris was died on Tuesday February 9, 2010 after suffering a major stroke. Discovery Channel and the viewers of “Deadliest Catch” have lost an amazing star with the death of Captain Phil Harris.

Captain Phil Harris was the man of a hit series “Deadliest Catch” at Discovery Channel. It has been mentioned that Captain Phil Harris commenced fishing in the early years of his childhood; he began fishing boat work when he was just 7 years old.

After 10 years at the age of 17, Captain began crab boat working. His professional career tells us that he jogged a fishing yacht out of Seattle when he was 21 years old; it was the time when he appeared as the youngest person who commands a boat in the Bering Sea.

Fans of the show will remember he had a health scare and had to go to the hospital during an earlier crab season. Knowing it would eventually cause his death makes those scenes even more compelling — and much sadder.

Harris seemed to be feeling fine last summer, when he made several publicity stops in Portland.

“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad — Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. — Jake and Josh Harris”

Harris, who was based out of Seattle, suffered the stroke during an offload of crab. He was found unconscious in a stateroom, was airlifted to Anchorage for 12 hours of surgery, then placed in a medically induced coma. He’d shown signs of improvement last week, squeezing hands and even telling his doctors and nurses, in his signature gruff style, to not screw things up.

Fans reached out Tuesday night on the show’s message boards — where comments have been posted since Phil Harris fell ill — offering condolences to the family.

Discovery Channel in its statement referred to Harris as “more than someone on our television screen. Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart.”
I am really going to miss him. I don't know how the show goes on without him, I hate the other captains.

At least he got to spend time with his boys knowing he could die, RIP Phil

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.
