Re: The food thread
One for BJMDDS - mushrooms one of Britain's most hated foods:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-dri ... ted-foods/
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-dri ... ted-foods/
The research, which aimed to reveal Britain's "food heaven and hell", found that while curry was named fifth on the list of food heaven it also ranked fourth on the list of food hell. This makes it more of an opinion splitting food than the famously controversial spread Marmite, which ranked seventh on the food hell list and 74th on the food heaven one.
The top most hated foods were liver, fish, Brussels sprouts, curry and mushrooms.
....The most loved foods were chicken, pasta, cheese, pizza, and curry - which trumped chocolate for a spot in the top five.
Re: The food thread
Sprouts are the only one of the most hated that I don't like.

Re: The food thread
I love brussel sprouts in ichiban noodles. I can't explain it, it's just really good.
Right now, I am all about pumpkin spice/flavored things, including pumpkin spice coffee which I was skeptical about but it really good!

MP, next week is the Chiller Theatre convention. I found a small but well rated Thai restaurant 1 minute from the hotel to try out. They don't serve my Pad Se Ew Ew Ew as I call it, but they do serve a similar noodle dish called Pad Ke Mao, so I will try that. Maybe a celebrity might walk over to this spot for dinner too. You never know Pad Ke Mao picture:

The Pad Ke Mao was mighty fine too, being a cousin of the Pad Se Ew.

I wanna know how they make those ginormous matzoh balls just so-there's an art to making then and doubly so when they're super sized, I'm sure!

Re: The food thread
Have any of the Americans here had Chicken a la King? I saw it mentioned in an episode of Hammer House and Mystery and Suspense with David McCallum.

Re: The food thread
Never once Captain. Maybe MP has tried it. a dish consisting of diced chicken in a cream sauce, and often with sherry, mushrooms, and vegetables, served over rice, pasta, or bread.

Re: The food thread
I know we had Chicken Ala King back in the day.. my mom liked meals that were easy to make, cheap, and would feed a family of 5.
Mom's recipes back then were combinations of various soups, milk, proteins(usually ground beef),veggies, and starches.
My favorites: Stroganoff, goulash(which my mom recently admitted she actually *doesn't* like!),chicken tortilla casserole, navy bean soup with ham..I could go on and on!

Re: The food thread
And this was in the era when people didn't care about carbs, fat, etc. Our family kept Kraft in buisness with how much mac and cheese we ate-it's the one thing all 3 of us kids liked(that and fish sticks(we had those at *least* once a week-not together though that would have been a good combo!)Capt.
