I watched an episode of Man V Food Nation where someone had to eat a giant bowl of the Vietnamese soup as an eating challenge.

You can't beat noodles!

I'd say the average bowl o' pho is mostly noodles and broth and meat and what have you.Personally, I could eat a bowl of it that was just broth, noodles and fixin's

Pho is great because(apart from a few higher end places) Vietnamese restaraunts tend to be hole-in-the-walls.But the food is *amazing*.

We went out to a sushi restaraunt for dinner last night(it was my sister-in-law's birthday and it was what she chose). Not a big sushi fan-don't like raw fish-but I did try a California roll and a tempura roll and liked those.

I actually ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl which was really good. I was worried that my youngest nephew and niece wouldn't find anything they liked, but they did(they also had teriyaki bowls-kind of a standard order for kids I think-it's about the plainest thing on the menu)

I could never bring myself to try sushi. I saw a Swedish cooking show where they cook the fish the chemical reaction in lemon

I think the preserved fish/salt fish is common in a lot of different cultures. Never had it myself.

My latest thing: Pickles. They sell cornichons(mini pickles) in a cup-kind of like the fruit cups they sell, but with pickles in juice. Not such a fan of pickle juice so I drain it off and eat the pickles.SO good!

I've only had hot cross buns a couple of times.Gotta love anything involving bread/pastry and frosting(though Starbucks' scones are iced and it makes them taste strange-Overkill would be the word I'd use.)

Our Easter dinner usually consists of some sort of protein(usually ham), and tons of sides(hoping my sister-in-law makes her famous green bean casserole-SO good!)

I prefer not to use the oven during the summer, but I've got a TV dinner-green Thai curry-cooking right now.

Every year we got to a party on the 4th of July. I always bring a salad-this year I'm doing a Mediterranean salad-basically an Israeli salad, but with feta cheese and olives added.

I only have the traditional plain cucumber sandwich. This wikipedia entry is quite interesting talking about the history and variations of the cucumber sandwich http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucumber_sandwich

You can't go wrong with Mediterranean food - olives, tomatoes, olive oil, hummous......

I *love* hummus. I actually buy cold cuts(turkey, usually) whole wheat bread, and just spread the hummus on the bread the way you would mustard or mayo(but it's way better!)
