WE ahve one here, maybe 40 or 50 miles away. Never considered stopping there before.

The thing I like about 5 Guys is that you can customize your burger-as few-or as many-condiments as you like.

I watched a program on the Food Network where someone tries the best fast food from vans in the US. One person was selling Columbian style burgers with pineapple sauce topped with crushed potatoes crisps. Revolting!

I also tried Sainsbury's value ("basics) coffee which tasted like sawdust.
Bring back Bond!

Store brand coffee is usually not very good.


I'm thinking about asking for one of those single cup coffee makers for Christmas.They have some really good coffee(and tea, and even hot chocolate!) available for them. 8)

I watched a US food programme where the cook made Yorkshire puddings and called them poppers!

I saw some fines herbes at Morrisons the other day and bought them thinking "these will be perfect for making scrambled eggs James Bond". Is that healthy (I mean mentally rather than nutritionally)?

fines herbes are good for a lot of things, especially slow cooked things like roasted chicken. Never had them on eggs.

I've heard it pronounced both ways here in the south. The traditional southern dialect is more like proper english than most yankees can manage. :wink:

Since BJ and I were talking salmon on his thread..I love it. You can't put lots of gloopy sauce on though.Something like brown sugar or maple syrup is *perfect* for salmon. And a side of rice.

I just made 2 cans of Trader Joe's wild sockeye salmon into croquettes MP, breaded, egged, and then fried in canola 'earl'. They came out great. Eat good on the big cruise to Alaska and give my very best to Sarah...........Palin :!: :lol:

My mom did fish(usually tuna) croquettes when I was a kid. The other thing she did was make breakfast(pancakes, eggs, bacon) for dinner.This was after she went back to work when I was about 10 years old. She didn't feel like cooking a huge dinner and who can blame her? :mrgreen:

When I watch US cookery shows the cooks seem to put Worcestershire sauce in everything!

I have a food channel and they show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Man vs Food a lot. And someone called Bobby Chinn.

It's been hot here so I haven't been excited about cooking for a while. Once the weather starts to cool down though I'll start doing a lot of cooking again. I want to try making broiled salmon(I had some really good salmon when I was in Alaska and would love to try and recreate it(though I know it won't be as good!)

Has anyone here tried Pho?It's a Vietnamese soup served in an enormous bowl with noodles and a HUGE array of ingredients(the most common:Steak) and a broth that is amazing(it has star anise, cinnamon and a few other things in it.)They also give you a plate of fixin's including basil(I love basil), bean sprouts and jalapenos(I took a small bite of a raw jalapeno recently..bad idea..)

Thai food is good. in the Lido on our most recent cruise, they had an Asian food section, and Thai food was one of the selections. It was spicy, but delicious!
