Indeed. It was hugely unpopular, and later models reverted to the more conventional round steering wheel. It was the product of minds that value innovation over practicality.Omega wrote:Had to look up the austin allegro steering wheel, what a weird design.

I think the Allegro is quite nice. Not sure about the Maxi though.

have you watched the 4K UHD bond films yet? Apple seems to have all of them in 4k. Which kind of lend credibility to the rumor they were serious about wanting Bond rights.kater23 wrote:Jut got a Apple TV so will be binging all of the shows(Black Mirror,Stranger Things among them).

YouTube has lots of good things, especially old films and television programmes. Although lots of it is deleted because of copyright infringement!

Or they charge you to watch it. They now have pay per view options like £2.50 for a movie, even an old movie like Carry On Screaming that's on TV more often than the news (in Britain, anyway).carl stromberg wrote:YouTube has lots of good things, especially old films and television programmes. We watched a show from 2006 that’s not on streaming or dvd, no illegal torrents either. It seemed like a individual put shoes he had rips of on YouTube. Didn’t cost anything, except YouTube put ads in the front of every show and as we continued watching seemed like ads every 20 minutes. It’d be like two to three ads you can fast forward through then the show.

Some people put things that are not on DVD etc on Youtube, and then when something is released take it off.Omega wrote:We watched a show from 2006 that’s not on streaming or dvd, no illegal torrents either. I watched the 1975 film Diagnosis: Murder on Youtube recently. It has Christopher Lee and Jon Finch in it, and was filmed in Kristatos's area.
I also watched the clasic John Inman (Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served?) sitcom OddMan Out. It has a great theme tune.

I remember seeing Diagnosis: Murder on TV, and doing a double-take at the sight of Christopher Lee standing in the middle of Broadmead shopping centre! I think it was the only theatrical release from HTV Films, the cinema arm of our local ITV company, which I assume was intended to rival Euston Films, the Thames Television equivalent.

Another Bristol reference in something I watched in YouTube - the Clifton suspension bridge in the Galloping Gourmet (about a minute in).

My mom watched Graham Kerr in the late 90s or early 2000s. He had a come to Jesus moment and a new show where he said he was a better person and a bunch of self help kind of stuff.

He had an interesting story. He was one of the first tv chefs with his gourmet rich food. Then his wife had a heart attack and became a Christian, and he also became a Christian and became a healthy food advocate. He had a programme where he took an old Galloping Gourmet recipe and made a low fat version.Omega wrote:My mom watched Graham Kerr in the late 90s or early 2000s. Halfway through episode 2 of Troy: Fall of a City right now, but paused it to make some supper. So far, not as bad as I had feared from the reviews, but the pace is a tad sluggish. It could possibly have benefited from being 6 episodes instead of 8.

Re: What TV programmes are watching at the moment?
I had one of his healthy cookbooks.Tried a couple of the recipes and they were pretty good actually-lot of vegetarian recipes=this was in the days when vegetarian food got a bad rap because it was so awful. Now it's as good as food with meat in it if not better(and better for you too)..Gluten free food is the new thing..and some of it is awful..but in time it'll be good too(hopefully..)carl stromberg wrote:He had an interesting story. I've been watching Honey West (on the lovely Talking Pictures channel. It's sixties show with Anne Francis as detective . She is a version of Cathy Gale and Emma Peel from The Avengers.

The British version of Spike tv has a double bill of Streethawk and Airwolf. Streethawk is very stylish with it's eighties theme. It's a shame that only 13 episodes were made.
