He won as predicted and will try and cut some social benefits - which will result in more riots. :wink:

It was interesting that in the first round Macron got around 20%, Le Pen got around 20%, the Conservative candidate got around 20% (and probably would have won without the corruption scandal) and an anti-European Union communist got around 20%.

How about a thread for the upcoming British General Election?

Macron won the Parliamentary elections too:

President Emmanuel Macron's political rise has been given another boost after his centrist parliamentary coalition claimed a landslide 350 seats out of a total of 577.

This was formed by his own young party, La République En Marche! (REM), in alliance with the Democratic Movement (MoDem).
Together, these two parties secured 49.1 per cent of the vote in the second round of the French parliamentary election - equating to 60.7 per cent of the seats in the National Assembly
