Politics is crazy in Australia - four Prime Ministers in two years. It's like ancient Rome there.

Mr Turnbull said he assumed that parliament would serve its full term, implying no snap general election.
A reneged promise already. An election has been called for July, much earlier than usual. Labor are ahead in the polls too, so Australia might get their 5th PM in 3 years!

I did. I do support the idea of changing the flag, but all the alternative designs were awful, so I voted to keep the current one. We'll only get one chance at this, so It's important to do it right. I was also sympathetic to the calls that the $26 million spent on the referendum could've been better spent, like having it coincide with the next election to both save money and boost turnout.

The alternative NZ flag looked like a corporate logo. I think it's tricky to come up with a brand new flag.
