Meanwhile, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.6%.
Businesses are citing concerns about the cost of health care reform rules, set to go into effect next year, as a major unknown keeping them on the edge.
"Fear of not knowing exactly what the rules are is holding hiring back," said John Silvia, Wells Fargo chief economist. "Once everybody knows the rules, they'll all want to play the game."

Sec. 2524 establishes the Task Force on New Americans, which would be comprised of top executive branch personnel and charged with ensuring that federal programs “adequately address” the healthcare, education, and job-training needs of new immigrants and developing legislative proposals. Will the president push for additional legislation to increase benefits for immigrants?

James Woods rants against Obama's race speech:

James Woods is pretty angry for a middle-aged guy dating a 20-year-old. Specifically, he's pissed at the president. The actor reacted angrily to Obama's speech about race on Friday, and its focus on black teenagers — rather than "ALL youth of every heritage in this country." Responding to the president's admission that he's heard the sound of car doors locking as he passed by white people, Woods unleashed a flurry of tweets, including: "The only reason people lock their car doors when Obama walks by is they are afraid he'll tax them to death."

“Very, very few people that we’re aware of have enrolled in the federal exchange,” said one anonymous insurance industry official to the Washington Post. “We are talking single digits.”

Exchange agencies walk back high-traffic hype

Other exchanges have had to pare down their initial statistics. Covered California, that state’s subsidized insurance exchange, initially claimed that its website had received 5 million hits on October 1. They later had to revise that number down 87 percent, to 645,000. KUSI-TV in San Diego is reporting that not one policy has yet been sold on the California exchange.

The guy is bad news. He tells his lackies to make sure people get hurt the most wherever possible so the Republicans get the blame. Schumer goes along with this all the time.

Florida Blue is cutting 300,000 individual insurance policies because they don’t measure up to the guidelines set forth by the Affordable Care Act, Kaiser Health News reports.
The cuts represent about 80 percent of Florida Blue’s individual insurance business, according to KHN. Affected policyholders are being notified via mail, Florida Blue spokesman Mark Wright told WUSF, with recommendations for new plan options available on the health exchange, an online marketplace through which consumers can purchase subsidized insurance.
Florida Blue is the only insurer to offer plans on the exchange in all 67 of Florida’s counties.
Wright did not immediately return a phone call or email seeking comment. He told WUSF that it was impossible to gauge a price difference between the canceled plans and the ones available on the exchange.

I had though Florida was one of the states refusing to set up an exchange so how is BCBS doing this?

Obama care is a disaster of epic proportions, so many thought they'd get free healthcare only to find out they don't they have to pay for badly priced plans so the evil insurance companies can make a profit. The deductibles are a joke enough to bankrupt a family, even then Obama can directly take out the fund from any bank accounts in the family name thats the part of the law nobody is talking about. Its a hidden clause that allows the government to withdraw money from our accounts to pay for bill or premium if the deem it necessary.

His NON-Affordable Health Care act is a joke and it's killing new hirings and the unemployment rate is only dropping because DROVES of workers are leaving the market and are no longer being counted. We knew this would happen 3 years ago and now it's liberal fate has come to fruition. I hope the people of Florida who lost their coverage 3 days ago are still glad they re-elected this apple that's rotten to the core :!:

In his story, reporter Chad Terhune also quoted a letter sent to a California insurance company executive. "I was all for Obamacare," wrote a young woman complaining about a 50 percent rate hike related to the health care law, "until I found out I was paying for it."

Also of interest to the Democratic consultant: A Josh Barro column on Obama's promise that "if you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan." It was never a reasonable pledge, Barro argues, and it's being proven false. He called this "a good thing" because "a lot of existing health plans were bad." Reforming the nation's health care system "was necessarily going to have to change a lot of people's health plans," Barro wrote.

The Democratic consultant said none of this is news to him, but he wonders why Obama wasn't honest with Americans. He predicted surprise and outrage over higher costs and lesser coverage. "We will own this problem forever," the Democrat wrote.

Putin secures his power
Who's more powerful: the omnipotent head of a corroding but still feisty superpower or the handcuffed head of the most dominant country in the world?

U.S. President Barack Obama topped our annual list of the world's most powerful people a year ago. But since then, President Vladimir Putin has solidified his control over Russia ("dictator" is no longer an outlandish word to ponder) while Obama's lame duck period has seemingly set in earlier than usual for a two-term president -- latest example: the government shutdown mess. Anyone watching this year's chess match over Syria has a clear idea of the shifting individual power dynamic.

But the 64-year-old recently received a letter notifying him the plan was being canceled because it didn't cover certain benefits required under the law.

The Griffins, who live near Philadelphia, pay $770 monthly for their soon-to-be-terminated health care plan with a $2,500 deductible. The cheapest plan they found on their state insurance exchange was a so-called bronze plan charging a $1,275 monthly premium with deductibles totaling $12,700. It covers only providers in Pennsylvania, so the couple, who live near Delaware, won't be able to see doctors they've used for more than a decade.

"We're buying insurance that we will never use and can't possibly ever benefit from. We're basically passing on a benefit to other people who are not otherwise able to buy basic insurance," said Griffin, who is retired from running an information technology company.

The Griffins are among millions of people nationwide who buy individual insurance policies and are receiving notices that those policies are being discontinued because they don't meet the higher benefit requirements of the new law.

Obamacare is a huge mistake, its a bad scheme to pool money to make money for insurance companies and government and nothing to do with actual cost of care.
