Idea for new Bond Game franchise

Post by Kiwichris »

Been playing those Batman Arkham Games lately (awesome btw, bring on Arkham Knight) and my video game interests are at their highest levels since high school. Hopefully with Activision's contract gone a new company can do a better job of doing 007 justice in this medium.

What I'd love to see would be a whole series of FPS Bond games based on the old classic films. Taking the appearance straight from the screen and see really authentic looking games following the film's plots with unused parts from the respective novels to fill in gaps and expand to make the games bigger and better. I'm sure licensing would dictate using Craig's likeness, but maybe there could be unlockable/purchasable skins that look like the 5 classic actors, akin to Arkham City's alternate Batsuits. Make the games in any order, who cares about that.

What does everyone think of that? Anything to add/change? Think it will happen in a million years? It's been a while since 007 Legends came out and there has been no announcement of any new games in development since. Maybe they're working on a game for Bond 24 or something?

EON isn't doing any justice to the Bond games by keeping the license. As the literary rights are held by Ian Fleming Publications, the cinematic rights being held by EON, I sincerely think the gaming rights should be handed to someone else. Because EON is abusing it. I'd like to see a psuedo-Bond with a new likeness like it was in Agent Under Fire in the upcoming games.

At this point, I would welcome a generic looking Bond like we had in Agent Under Fire. And I would also like the licence to go to another developer such as Ubisoft.

What if EON sells the gaming license to some developer like Rockstar or Rocksteady? That would be nice to see, to be honest.

Rocksteady ftw. If we had some bond games like the Arkham games I'd be in heaven.

Not a big Grand Theft Auto fan (though I do like GTA3), but Activision clearly don't have a clue. I don't see how Rockstar (or Rocksteady) could possibly do any worse.

Rockstar knows how to pull it off. So does Rocksteady. The thing is, they do value the traditions of the shooter genre, either in First-Person or Third-Person. The driving mechanics and on-foot elements in GTA games are brilliant, in my honest opinion, they also did hell of a job on Max Payne 3, so why not? Alright, probably not an open-world game, but at least they are decent studios. Activision and Electronic Arts don't differ much from the other, all they can do is Regen-Health, ADS, limited mapholes, one-way corridor, and limited weapons (to three at most). I even doubt Ubisoft can handle a classic game since they dropped the ball when they sold out with Splinter Cell: Conviction. Oh, I forgot to mention the Quick-Time Events, worst part of a game!

This article here was interesting, and sounds like, if put into practice, would make a cool game.

I'd rather if they stick to the old school First Person Shooter elements.
