Barbara: Craig will do at least 2 more films

Post by The Sweeney »

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on here -

Daniel’s said in interviews that he’s going to do two more…
BARBARA: At LEAST two more!
…but there hasn’t been an official announcement from you guys to say that. Can you confirm that?
MICHAEL: Well, we don’t want to limit ourselves.
Well, will you tell us, is he going to do at least two more?
BARBARA: Yes.
MICHAEL: But we wouldn’t necessarily want to limit ourselves to just two.

It's not new news as we know Craig is coming back for more Bond movies. That's why many of us are announcing the death of the Bond movies series (although it really died in 2005 when Craig was cast).

Can you see Bond going back into space any time soon?
MICHAEL: Not for a while! Sweeney, we know it's over. You can carry on with this garbage the next 10 years. Not us. MI:5 and other franchises from now on. We are all DONE with the arrogance of the dolt and his half-sister. I hope they go broke and close up shop. Ten more years of this? No way.

Craig isn't exactly aging all that great, so I don't see how he can keep playing Bond for the next umpteen years to come. And as I've said so many times already, it's ultimately up to the audience as to how long Craig should stay, not the producers.

So this is how a franchise dies... with thunderous applause.

Mate keep a eye out for something for me, I'm looking for any quote from Danno or Babs (or Mickey) about "new contract signed", so far I haven't noticed one. It's been "I have two more", "he'll make two more", no -"Oh god he is just so good we had to sign him to another contract when the opportunity came" or "I was offered the opportunity to sign for two more." this is the kind of spin I've been expecting, what they have been doing is rather tame.

I think I know how they are getting two more with the existing contract (possible more), and it jives with what I'm hearing form others. The other questions I had were about two years scheduled and script were answered already.

This is the first article I saw where Craig himself commented:

http://www.shortlist.com/entertainment/ ... et-violent

Here's all it says:

How many more films are you signed up to?

Two more.

Until now, I hadn't thought about it, but it doesn't say "new contract," doesn't say "extended contract." Just "two more."

Mazer: are you suggesting/theorizing/wondering out loud that Craig hasn't signed a new contract, that they're trying to squeeze more movies under his current deail? (Not a criticism just wondering).

Essentially yes. Everyone assumes he has a new contract with no real confirmation he does.

This is not to say I do not take them at their word, they intend two more with the drastically aging thespian. Babs is weirdly enamored with the man I don't see her letting go if it is in her power to force him to stay (Craig ad nauseum), thankfully it is not solely in her control. Craig will be over sooner rather than later, it's where they go from there I'm concerned with.

I actually think Craig may not age too badly from here, as he was looking old even in CR, and I don't think he will look that much older than he does now in a few years time. The fact that he is keeping trim is helping him. Connery and Moore began to show their age once the weight started piling on.

Quick question (as I don't know the answer).....how old was Brozza when he did DAD, compared to how old Craig will be when he does his 4th Bond film? I could dig around the internet to find out but I'm hoping someone has the answer already to save me looking...?

Brosnan was 49, born in 1953. DC was born in 1968 and would be 46 in 2014.

So Craig could actually still make 2 more movies and be the same age as Brozza was in DAD when he comes to do his 5th film.
I can see why Babs thinks 2 more is feasible now.

If Eon can make the next two movies on a two-year cycle, DC would be 48 in 2016. As The Sweeney notes, that's younger than PB in Die Another Day. Roger Moore turned 49 during the filming of The Spy Who Loved Me.

For a rookie Bond he sure aged quickly talking about being 'over the hill' with Dench's M in Bond 23. Rookie to retiree in 3 films. Marvelous :!:

So have you now officially washed your hands of the franchise now BJ?

I remember way back in 2005 that you thought CR would be Craig's only Bond film, and here we are all these years later looking ahead to when Craig could be doing his 5th film (which even I didn't think would be possible back in 2005).

Bloody hell mate he is looking like old man winter in only four years, and it supposed to get better from here. His face is looking older than the rest of him, in the Heineken spot he had a old man wide waxy face. It's not the face of a man who's seen the fountain of youth mate.

Brozza was 48-49 filming DAD, I say accept for the age spots he looked the role and still did for many years after. Moore... Never mind. Dalton except for thinning hair was in prime shape for a lot of years. Connery was too old for Bond at 41, for him it wasn't packing on the pounds, in Connery's case it was how his face aged.

In it's current state, absolutely. I never expected the green vegetable's sexual obsession to be able to overcome MGM's decisions. This product is not Bond and you know it and Fleming would not recognize it either. Bond ended in 2002........

Agree about DAF and Connery. His vitality was gone and his hair was dry instead of wet as was the case in the previous 5 films he did.

I remember in 2006 the Daniel Craig fans were saying Pierce Brosnan was too old in Die Another Day; I suppose Craig can go on until he is 70 with no complaint from these same people. :D

Daniel Craig has never been fresh faced and looks as aged now (i.e he looks 20 years older than he actually is) as he did in 2005 and 1995: so there is no danger of his looks deteriorating as he has always looked haggard. The only problem is his female admirers may be put off by his bingo wings in his later films. :D The Bond series died for me in 2006 as I don't think Daniel Craig can be Bond (plus the artistic changes are a bit tiresome). It will be revived when a more suitable actor is chosen to play Bond - and maybe someone involved in the production will admire Cubby Broccoli's work.

I gave Craig a chance. I thought Casino Royale must be good as everyone said it was. I thought it was awful when I watched it. This was followed by Quantum of Solace which no one seems to like. Skyfall has an awful looking Daniel Craig and a weird plot and won't be my cup of tea.

I wish Daniel Craig would move on and do something else. He has made lots of money and a Bond trilogy.

Daniel looked old in Sharpe's (Rifles? Eagle?) when he was a spry 25

Agreed this franchise is merely a plaything for babs (aka the jolly horny green vegetable) so she can see craig in his birthday suit, it's utterly disgusting and truly distasteful to the bond legacy, Cubby brocoli despite how the bond girls were would never intentionally do this to a bond girl, they also had their sides to them that made them that, if he did he'd be under fire from everyone, but if babs does it it's apparently ok, all that reeks of is double standards to Me (it's like those cringy daytime shows where if a guys on and he keeps in shape a woman without caring tells them to take it off and he does so and almost down to wearing nothing as well in some shows cases, a guy wouldn't ask that of a woman if they want on his show but suddenly the opposite way is ok?, it pisses Me off to no end, it's like saying we're all showoffs because we're male, Me I like to dress smart and people like Me for who I am I'm not a bloody stripper for chrisakes :cuss: .)

So if a guy did it he'd be in trouble but one female producer can do it no problem, if I was in craigs position I'd actually be angry to be looked at as just an object and not an actor because that's all this is, from the minute craig walked out of the water in the beach instead of the iconic bond girl you knew there was something seriously wrong here, it was also the start of hey now it's my franchise see that iconic bit it's gone byebye, now what next, that's how babs bond films work to me.

I'm all for equality and stuff but when we get treated like that it's no better than if we did it to females and it's utterly degrading, again I'd love someone to do a female version of james bond and do exactly what babs is doing right here and see how she feels because she'd probably feel just the same, hell I bet her getting Javier on Craig was also part of her twisted fantasy.

Imagine ghostbusters if it was directed by rob schneider, all the characters suddenly acted really dumb and went from being great and grounded to derp derp, or venkman suddenly hates dana and becomes an alcholic, or egone turns out to be a pedo, or ray god knows what...& winston...winston becomes a country singer  (it's wrong on all levels).

Awesome avatar mazer  , segal should be the next bond as soon as he's finished crouching cops, hidden badges 2 (with 75% more segal flying).
