Daniel Craig is best Bond of all time

Post by The Sweeney »

Ah, Mr Bond. I’ve been expecting you. Please, make yourself comfortable. We are going to take a little journey into the shadows together. To the world of international espionage, where intrigue and gadgetry go hand in hand with fast cars, even faster women and a licence to thrill.

For in this territory, long stalked by our Mr Bond with a Walther PPK in one hand and a shaken-not-stirred martini in the other, something fundamental has changed.

Something in the rippling form of a man who, after only three films, is being hailed as the best James Bond of all time. Can this possibly be true? After much reflection, including poring over strategic photographs, watching a preview of the new Bond film Skyfall and loving every single palpitating minute of it, I think the answer has to be a resounding, foot-stomping, spy-tastic yes.

For the name is Craig. Daniel Craig. And when he first stepped up to play Bond in Casino Royale six years ago, many thought he would never do justice to the role.

Who was this guy that everyone called Mr Potato Head? Where was his smoky glamour, his upper-class polish, his suave and debonair 007 credentials?

In addition to all this, he had fair hair, a heinous crime. A blond Bond? It was unthinkable.
And he was from the Wirral, for God’s sake.

Even before Casino Royale was released, the criticisms came thick and fast, like pot shots from an evil henchman’s firearm.

Craig’s ears were too far down his head, like a mouse. In some of his first Bond publicity shots, he looked like an elf in a dinner jacket.

The portents were not good. Lightning cracked across the Bond sky, Rosa Klebb polished up her poison-tipped shoes as diehard fans prayed for Austin Powers, for the return of Pierce Brosnan, even for old George Lazenby himself to creak across the screen once more! Anyone but the upstart Craig. Now, three films later, the truth can be denied no longer. Daniel Craig has been an absolute sensation as James Bond.

For me and many others, he is indeed the best Bond ever

I feel like Winston Smith.

This comment on the article from someone seems to sum up the bizarre Craig worshiping:
I have been watching some of the old Bond films on Sky 007 Movies, and they are truly awful - like a carry on film for the most part!! Even The Living Daylights was terrible to watch again, and I really liked TImothy Dalton at the time. Daniel Craig and the production/writing of the last 2 Bonds have been amazing - I cannot wait to see Skyfall !! They have brought Bond back from comedy/sleazeball factor with a punch. Love them.
Very sad. The modern world is so tasteless that we can't even have James Bond films anymore.
Bring back Bond!

I know you guys don't like Craig as 007, but this time round there currently seems an overwhelming opinion here in the UK that Craig is close to being the best Bond, and once Skyfall is released, it could be many's favourite Bond movie.

I predicted as much a while back with the factor of the Big 3 for Bond this year - Olympics, Bond 50 and Adele.

I'm not sure how Skyfall will be received in the US though.

This could be the best of Craigs films. Which, upon reflection, I guess isn't saying all that much.

True, especially after the abysmal Quantum Of Solace, there's really nowhere else to go but up. Skyfall may seem like an improvement, but that's really not saying much, since I didn't care for Craig's first two Bond films anyway.

Don't know how it'll be received over here either, honestly not a lot going on here to say there is a Bond film coming up. (What I've seen) A ad or two every so often not much, surprised there isn't more seeing as the premier is so soon, Adele on the radio once a blue moon her older songs are getting more play, I saw the beer ad twice but not recently. maybe they are waiting for November?
I haven't seen hobbit ads either but it s further away. Twilight crap is everywhere hard to miss a movie is coming out i never would of believed it was the next potter series as they were saying 4 years ago.

Going to call horse pucky on the best Bond ever crapolla every time there is a new movie the actor is the best ever and the movie is the best ever. I like Brosnan's Bond but the same crap was said about him and he had the benefit of actually playing Bond, I didn't seem Bond anywhere in CR, a spy movie, a action movie, but it lacked the touches Bond had.
Either the bar is set incredibly low or folks have shorter memories than they used to. To me it's like saying Brack Obama, George W Bush, or Bill Clinton were the best presidents ever, sure they had the job but they didn't define it, its not something that's redefinable it is what it is.

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Nope, no fan of Craig until he step away being Bond.

So what does such paid writers claimed Craig is the best 007? Maybe just the few who agrees. No one I know in person does, we are far more excited about the new Star Wars movies.

All the people I have come in to contact with love Skyfall. Take a look at the user feedback on both Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. For very negative review that crops up, there are about 10 positive to counteract it. The ratio is not 50:50 split, or that the positive reviews are in the minority.

Take a look at all the Bond forums out there, look at the BO sales. Your comments about only a mere `few' liking Skyfall globally may need to be reconsidered. As it stands now, I would say its the other way round. Only a few do not like Skyfall when gathering all the information out there on the internet.

I know it is not accurate to generalise with sweeping statements, but what else can you go on, other than the data that is provided online?

They'll be writing this about the next Bond (if he's ever cast) actor in the future. The current Bond always gets the PR.

Nevermind!

I prefer Judge Dredd, its got low BO taking but at least the actors are likable! :->

Skysomething may be great at the BO, Sweeney, good for them but I don't give a d**n nor will I reconsider to like Craig as Bond. I don't hate him as a person coz I don't know the man but I certainly don't like him as Bond. He can play any character in other movies and it won't affect me or a lot of others here but not Bond!
