A Daniel Craig impersonator from Norfolk has gone through to the second stage of Britain's Got Talent after wowing the audience and judges.

As part of a seven man 'look-alikes' dance act called the Chippendoubles, Steve Wright used his skills honed over the three years he has impersonated the James Bond actor.

Described only as a 'variety act', the Chippendoubles came on stage wearing monks cloaks and white face masks, giving nothing away about what they were about to do.

But as each of the seven removed their masks and cloaks in turn to music, they were revealed as some of the country's leading look-alikes.

David Brent, David Beckham, Gordon Ramsay, Mr T and Will Smith were included in the line up, with Mr Wright's Daniel Craig revealing himself second.

After the act shown on Saturday evening, Piers Morgan described the performance as “genius, absolute genius”.

Mr Wright, a photographer who is originally from Sheringham and now lives in Hellesdon, Norwich, said: “It was recorded back in February but we had to keep quiet about it until it was broadcast.

“When we walked out on stage to start, we could only see through two little eye holes in the masks and you could hear a pin drop. It was obvious the audience were going to decide very quickly whether to go wild or boo.

“What you can't see in the clip is that there was a three-minute standing ovation afterwards. Having 3,500 people standing and cheering was quite an experience; they nearly ripped the roof off they were so loud.”

Mr Wright and wife Stacy had to wait to see the show until about 1.30am on Sunday because Stacy was busy performing at Hempnall village hall in her own role with an Abba tribute called the Abbababes.

She said: “We were screaming like groupies when we watched it.”

They and fellow competitors will now be whittled down to 40 for the third stage.

I'm glad they said "Daniel Craig lookalike" rather than "James Bond lookalike".

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Well Craig is a impersonator himself to keep things clear they had to say lookalike.
