How long till the tide turns or the scales fall from eyes?

It looks like DC is going to have to unpack those famous shoe lifts and smear some Bisto on his face for another Bond, but hopefully we nearing the end of this charmless era for the franchise.

Daniel Craig did say he was going to make his three films and then 'get on with my life'. Bond 23 will be his third so we'll see if he really meant that.

He actually said he was going to do that after QOS, but that may just have meant that there was going to be a long break before Bond 23. He denied the reports that he was contracted for 5 Bond films, but said he didn't know whether he was going to make 3 or 4 ("but it definitely won't be 5"). Mind you, that was before he said he'd be playing Bond till his knees go (quick, somebody hide his knees!) It sounds like he doesn't want to commit to a definite number. Pierce originally said he was only going to do three, but changed his mind.

When Craig quits Bond, I may have to give up the internets for a while, because of the the agita I'm bound to get from reading all the "Noo Daniel!Don't go!" posts elsewhere.

Sadly, I suspect he'll be reluctant to give up that regular cheque from Eon now. He hasn't exactly set the world alight outside of the franchise since 2005.

January 2002 it was announced that Pierce had been a contracted for a fifth. As it eventually turned out it was a broken promise at best.

Daniel has waffled around on this. I would not be shocked to have him quite after a third or even a before, or for that matter make a fourth. However I doubt he will make fourth unless he is up against hard times. If he does a third and calls it quits he can say he did what he wanted to do. He can quite before a third and say the same. He can get out of it any time he likes by saying does not like the direction Eon wanted to take Bond.
