For the record, Jimmy, I have seen Casino Royale three times (once with Rifftrax commentary, twice without), and each time liked it a little less than the last, whereas I can still watch the classic Bond films over and over again, so your theory about how if we just keep watching, we will see the light and cast the pre-2006 Bond films into the outer darkness are just your experience, not some universal self-evident truth. I really don't feel inclined to ever watch CR again, at least not without the Rifftrax commentary to keep me amused.

Sweeney, how come you never defended any contrary posters at MI6 as you do here? Both are on foreign soil. I did not 'attack' anyone. I just responded to a post that was made here and I countered with my points. Isn't that debate? MI6 deleted and locked posts by what you would call 'flame wars', yet here, NO posts are deleted and NO threads are locked so your sudden awakening to 'forum justice' is a bit puzzling. To be honest, it's been a long time since I can remember a contrary post on MI6 causing such a stir as this guy did here. The intelligent posters like Charles Vine don't get insulted these days on MI6. If anything, many of his contrary posts are held in quite high regard by many.

The only ones that would get a serious bashing would be from a 6 year old jumping headfirst into the forum spouting off crap about Craig being ugly, being too short, etc. without giving any weight, substance or intelligence to their viewpoint.

Likewise, if anyone jumped headfirst in here saying `you lot are dumb, Craig is the best thing ever, this site is for morons, etc.' then I would expect you all to tell the young whippersnapper where to go......hell, I may even join in!

But this guy didn't do that. I thought his initial post did not deserve to be ridiculed like it did, and not to be accused of lying and trolling either. Anyway, enough of that. I'm sick to death of the subject now, and defending someone who I don't know from Adam. You all know my opinion with this one, let's put it to bed.

If you're ever in Oxford UK I'll buy you a pint. I too am sick to death of the subject now and wish I'd never got involved so I'm signing off. (Unless my mum comes up trumps at the libuary tommorow. Would love her to find the 1975 newspaper ad.)

P.S Ifound a great picture of Sean Connery in Zardos on the internet but I can't fathom how to post pictures. Try searching on google for it you lot. Thought it would counter all the anti Craig pics up on this site. However if I had managed to post it I don't think my life would be worth living!

It's very rare that threads get deleted here, for any reason, opposing opinion or otherwise.I think we all make an effort to be respectful of one anothers' opinions. But there is a fine line between having an opposing opinion and stepping other people's toes.

I'e said it before and I'll say it again, since it's relevant to this discussion: I don't like feeling as though I have a gun held to my head where the Bond films are concerned.When QOS was about to come out on DVD there was definitely a feeling of "You have to buy multiple copies of the QOS DVD(for no particluar reason) or else you're a bad Bond fan" from at least one person here.If not buying multiple copies of a DVD means I'm a bad fan,then so be it.

There are a lot of fandoms that are split down the middle as far as what is good and what is crap. Generally, they're fairly respectful to each other. From what I've observed, it is WAY more common in movie fandoms, and especially when more than one actor has been in the role(like the Bond films).

The lack of opinion/wanting to hear other opposing opinions among some fans seems to be a HUGE problem for Bond fans in particular.
