Bond 23 (with Craig). How would you improve the franchise?
Re: Bond 23 (with Craig). How would you improve the franchise?
Well, there *is* a faction of fans that go along with the claim that Bond is a code name...I don't,though.

Just like "From Russia With Love" - "Bond" is killed at the beginning.katied wrote:Well, there *is* a faction of fans that go along with the claim that Bond is a code name...I don't,though.
James Bond: NOT just another action hero.
I'll skip Bond 23 & wait for:
Bond is on an indefinite leave, He'll Be Back.

Keeping continuity with characters-MI6 specifically.(Villiers, anyone? In CR but apparently working somewhere else or in a different department in QOS )

Yeah that's right, the dude from Rome. That's a minor one though, at least Bond/M/Felix/White stayed the same.
Re: Bond 23 (with Craig). How would you improve the franchise?
I liked the Tanner character in QOS..kind of a similar thing to the Villiers/ Bond sparring(albeit briefly) in CR.

What this next Bond needs to to crank up the dull schemes of his enemies. He could face off against a financial giant, who uses computer formulas and house values to create wealth. Bond needs to step up and prevent the enemy from getting a government subsidy for his scheme by using a laser....
....pointer on his power point presentation before Congress. It's the sort of bland, ripped from the headlines tale we need.
That or we need to go for hyper realism. Take a suggestion from Bill Hicks and use terminally ill patients and prisoners on death row as extras in the next movie and have Daniel Craig ACTUALLY murder henchman on film. And then the producers need to kill Daniel Craig so the ledger effect pushes the Budget up way high.
Or.... go the meta route, and film a story about the real James Bond has to become an actor and film a movie about his life in order to infiltrate a movie studio that also produces terrorists.
Or, better yet, go the back to the future route, and have Daniel Craig travel back in time and mess with Casino Royale in order to bring back Vespa alive, so they can marry, so she can die and he has to fight a villian. (Is it much worse than DAD?)

Craig is talking about Moneypenney and Q. With the tone of the series since CR I'd let them be. Nothing could be worse than a redntion of MP and Q with the attitude this series has now. Maybe it'd be alright of they change the tone. Maybe.

Money Penny kind of sucks as a character anyways. We get it, she and Bond have unrequited love. What development could they have for her, she's really good at typing? She knows excel all to well?

I'd leave these characters out of the Craig films too. What if Craig did a couple more and got replaced by a younger actor? Whoever played Q and Moneypenny against Craig wouldn't look right with a Cavill type. It'd be weird to have them suddenly playing against a Bond who looks twenty years younger.Mazer Rackham wrote:Craig is talking about Moneypenney and Q. People here know my feeling about Q and Moneypenny...down the road a bit...not in the next film though(if EON are smart).

Same here. I don't see Moneypenny or Q being in Craig's Bonds.James wrote:I'd leave these characters out of the Craig films too.

I hope not.As I have said many times, I don't understand the attachment some have to them.I really don't.Same here. I don't see Moneypenny or Q being in Craig's Bonds.

I've got ideas of how it could be done, but you'll have to wait for my outline treatment of Bond 23: RisicoFormerBondFan wrote:Same here. I don't see Moneypenny or Q being in Craig's Bonds.James wrote:I'd leave these characters out of the Craig films too.

You might want to bring up the MP dislike with Ian Fleming. Since it is his bond they are allegedly trying to make.wrenchhands wrote:Money Penny kind of sucks as a character anyways. I think the tone of the new series is contrary to the tone needed for a successful MP and Q or even "Wild" Bill Tanner.
(In Quark he came off as a tool.)
Probably best to keep the powder dry on MP and Q until they get back to making Bond films.

Along with the male M, MP and Q shall return when the traditional James Bond returns.

A male "M"?
d**nit man that's sexist!
Seriously, what kind of M should they replace Dench with? A traditional Bernard Lee styled or a more modern Navy admiral played by the likes of a Michael Kitchen, Colin Salmon or Anthony Hopkins?

Either of them is fine.Mazer Rackham wrote:A traditional Bernard Lee styled or a more modern Navy admiral played by the likes of a Michael Kitchen, Colin Salmon or Anthony Hopkins?

LOL Tanner was just...Tanner, wasn't he? But in lieu of Villiers(am I the only one who wishes they would explain what happened to him at some point? ),he'll do.
Re: Bond 23 (with Craig). How would you improve the franchise?
Personally, I don't think it matters now. Dench shouldn't have been cast in CR, but that particular ship has sailed. I've got a workaround for that in my upcoming treatment too, which is designed to fit between QOS and Dr No as it might appear in the rebooted timeline.Mazer Rackham wrote:A male "M"?
