QOS Gun Barrel Sequence

Post by Jermaine76 »

I won't deny that I was tempted earlier tonight to download a "copy" of QOS from a torrent site. As a true Bond fan, I just couldn't do it. Well, I did cheat a little bit and went on Youtube to see if anyone has uploaded the gun barrel sequence. I'm ashamed to have looked at it. Its garbage. What are they doing to James Bond? Man! Is EON trying to piss me off on purpose? Why are they changing stuff around? The formula has worked for 40+ years and they now want to change it all up. I don't know if this saying is in England, but here in America there's a saying we go by....If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Lets just break this down for a sec. 1. They get rid of Brosnan. 2. They hire an ugly dude to play Bond. 3. They do a reboot that wasn't needed. 4. They do the reboot wrong. 5. You all can add your own opinions in this spot because Casino Royale was garbage. 6. Wasting Alicia Keys talents for the theme song. 7. They now have a jacked up the gun barrel sequence. I want the Stocks and Sweeneys to explain this to me. You guys praise EON's new direction. Is this what you guys really want?

Its so wrong, man. I don't even look forward to going to the theaters on the 14th. Going to a Bond film on the first showing has been a tradition in our family since 1987. All the hate I got in middle and high school for being a black dude obsessed with 007 and this is what I get in return. I'm sorry for ranting right now...its just pisses me off. Leave stuff alone. What are they trying to accomplish by doing these things? I bet Albert Broccoli is in heaven right now heated...looking down at this garbage his daughter and stepson have put out.

And now I'm hearing its at the end of the movie. Matter of fact, they can just change the whole thing up. Change the theme song, his name, hell...they can take off Ian Fleming's name because I'm seeing is "Barbara Broccoli's James Bond 007". d**n...just sell the d**n franchise to someone who gives a d**n about tradition.

Agreed. I'm barely excited about QOS(at best).Unlike others here,I don't have high expectations for it, and I won't apologize for thinking so

Oh and as far as the Broccolis go,again, right there with you.

Getting rid of Brozza was a great move. It's looking more and more that Craig is now proving a successful, popular Bond by critics and audiences in general (despite the negative reviews on QoS). CR is proving to be the biggest hit with critics for years, Just about every review slagging off QoS praises the brilliant CR in comparison. Reading through the bunch of negative reviews on QoS here shows you this.

They sold Bond out because they ran out of ideas and didn't want to pay for new ones. Repurposed Bourne, day old Batman and leftover Jackie Chan. Add a dash of XXX for good measure.

I too saw the gunbarrel and it was wannabe artistic crap. "He's not Bond but becoming Bond", it's an excuse to pass off an actor incapable of playing Bond and making Bond lite palatable for the masses. It's all a sellout. It's not Fleming's Bond (he never wrote crude callous rudimentary Bond) and it's not the Bond Connery made. This is Jason Statham era.

Thats the part I'm having trouble with. You pay these writers to sit back and come up with new or at least fresh ideas and they're not delivering. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I REALLY see a Goldfinger-like scene on TV where the girl is covered in oil instead of gold? Just garbage. As for Batman, at least they went into DETAIL about his childhood and his parents being killed UNLIKE what EON did with Casino Royale. I'm watching it now. It amazes me how they bragged about the reboot and all they did was have Bond kill two random dudes and all of a sudden he's promoted.

I have a friend from New Orleans who keeps on telling me that same nonsense about Bond being the Bond who all grew up with. My question is, how long are they going to drag this "growing up" phase with Bond? Will it only be during the Craig-Bond tenture or what? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's contracted to do 4 films, right? So we have 2 more films to see this fool "grow up". 2 more films that we MIGHT see Q, we MIGHT see a Moneypenny or we MIGHT see a gadget or two.

What they need to do is stop with the artistic nonsense...thats what the opening title sequence is for. I'm surprised that didn't have Daniel Craig do the gun barrel sequence with the big ass gun he was holding at the end of Casino Royale.

They have stopped making James Bond films. I'm afraid those of us who dislike the new Bond are out of luck for the forseeable future.

I had the misfortune to see Quantum of Solace. It's was heartbreaking to see Daniel Craig's Bond in action again. So awful. What a waste of a Bond film.

Jermaine, it's not another Bond. It is an average action film with Daniel Craig playing a tough spy - who happens to be called James Bond. I can only presume Eon are aiming at a new audience (i.e. not those of us who enjoy the cinematic James Bond), or that 007 is indeed a codename used by multiple spies and Craig's spy is the latest to use it.

It is another run of the mill spy movie.Mulling it over it's below the average.

I've seen QOS disappointment doesn't begin to cover it.For hard core addicts that need to see 'em all.Casual users can safely forgetaboutit. If they absolutely have to see it pop in the worse Bourne movie and pretend his name is Bond and the movie sucks more.

I agree Mr Seven. Many critics yearned for a return of the tradional staples, and hopefully these will return/

It's doubtful...but maybe the so-so reviews QOS is getting will make the Broccois mull a few things over(again, not likely, but one can hope, right? )

A lot of people expected it would happen this film.
As it stands now it will never happen. This crude curmudgeon is Eons Bond and the rest of the worlds average action flick.

I think it was mistake to continue on the CR diversion so singularly because there is a high expectation of getting back to business after a one-off not-quite-Bond excursion.

I agree Jermaine76.

I didn't like they tired to make the gun barrel part of teh story last time and putting at the end ? what's the point?

I will not go to this movie. It would feel like selling out. I might rent it be even that feel like a compromise. I'm really not interested and have no desire to watch it. First time I felt that way about any Bond movie. But I guess its like you said "Change the theme song, his name, hell...they can take off Ian Fleming's name because I'm seeing is "Barbara Broccoli's James Bond 007".
