02/15/08: George Lazenby was the BEST BOND I said !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every one just wants to crap on what we hold dear - star trek, mission impossible, charlies angels, alien, predator and james friggin bond already. ( I suppose you could add star wars to the list but Boss Nass was a geezer for loaning out that gungan army and so he's done alright by me.). Anyway - casino Royale was fun if you're not a fan of the bond series and can't give an arse to the past traditions. I love the bond movies - miss moneypenny, the fights, the locations, the gadgets, the one-liners, john barry's scores, the opening tiles, the gun barrel at the start, M's office, the henchman popping up at the end for a final scrap - all of this was ditched by Casino Royale. Nice one Michael G Wilson - nice one Eon productions and thanks for nothin !

As for me original point LAZENBY WAS AND STILL IS THE BEST BOND EVER - I SAID. He was cool, caring, charismatic - his film had all of the elements of what made bond great - action, music, plot, characters, cinematograhy and you wanted more of Lazenby as BOND. Lazenby is a genuine bloke and I've always wished him well. I'll watch OHMSS more than CASINO anytime. Thanks George !
Bring back Bond!

Lazenby is near perfect as Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Crying shame he didn't make 10 more just like it!

I think I have a new sig line. I wanted to add the following two sentences as well, but it came out too long.
"He's the one that doesn't smile" - Queen Elizabeth II on Daniel Craig

I wasted the quote by hiding it away here!

There were lots of reviews of Casino Royale which said things like "This is not a Bond film and Daniel craig is not really playing James Bond....Casino Royale is briliant".

I wish they'd make another adventure in this vein - with a Bond who looks and acts like Lazenby's Bond.

I could not agree more. I also think that Lazenby is THE Bond. So natural.

Personally Connery is my Bond but I get why Lazenby has his appeal. I would have liked to see him do DAF

Chief of Staff, 007's gone round the bend. Says someone's been trying to feed him a poisoned banana. Fellow's lost his nerve. Been in the hospital too long. Better call him home.

Diamonds are Forever is at the bottom of my ranking... not the very bottom but bottom 4 I'd say. And I have to agree that I would have loved to have seen Lazenby do the movie. It would have been written differently and possibly not brought in the Moore camp quite so early. Though I love Moore's first few films, I really think that there could have been a few more films along the lines of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

I might be one of the few here that thinks OHMSS is overrated. I didn't like the romance with Tracy. I don't think Fleming should of had Bond marry. I like how Bond usually just shags and moves on. Having said that, I would not have minded seeing Lazenby in another film. He isn't a bad Bond (although his acting could be better), but I don't consider him among the best Bond actors.

I don't think it would be outrageous to place Lazenby second after Sean Connery.
