MOORE DESPERATE TO TEAM UP WITH SEMI-RETIRED CONNERY
SIR ROGER MOORE is desperate to star alongside fellow 007 actor SIR SEAN CONNERY, and would do anything to bring him out of retirement. The veteran star Moore, 79, took to the big screen as Connery's replacement in the James Bond franchise in 1973 and would love the chance to team up with the 76-year-old Scottish actor and their pal Sir Michael Caine - but only if the script is good enough. Moore says, "Sean, Michael and I are good friends. I'd still like to get together with the guys and drag Sean out of his self-imposed retirement. "We need a d**n good script and a talented director." Connery's last big movie role was as Allan Quatermain in 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

MOORE'S BOND PAY CHEQUE ENVY
www.contactmusic.com
Veteran actor SIR ROGER MOORE envies his JAMES BOND successors PIERCE BROSNAN and DANIEL CRAIG - because they have made more money from the superspy role than he did. Moore, 79, played the action star in seven movies in the Bond franchise during the 1970s and 1980s and would love to have enjoyed the financial benefits of modern-day actors - who typically command six-figure salaries per film. He says, "I made seven Bond films and they were all successful. Maybe I could have done one of Pierce Brosnan's - or rather I could have done with one of Pierce's pay cheques!" But Moore believes Craig - the latest Bond star - is worth every bit of his movie fee, because he wouldn't have been able to pull off the kind of stunts shown in 2006's Casino Royale. He adds, "Jumping across cranes and the building site - I don't have that sort of energy. Daniel Craig deserves every penny of his salary for that alone."

Sir Roger Moore laments current state of television
In this week's edition of the Radio Times magazine (UK), Sir Roger Moore is interviewed about "The Saint", but also expresses views on modern TV:
"As far as I can see, television is mainly cooking programmes, finding a house, redecorating a house and terrible celebrity get me out of here shows, Big Brothers and all that. They're so crap. So boring..." he adds, "I also think the standard of speech and comedy have gone out of the window. I mean what can you compare to Morecambe & Wise today? Everything is so vulgar. It's all so repetitous..." though on a cheerier note Sir Roger is hooked on "The Bill" ("maybe it's because my father was a policeman") and concludes "But I'm also a hypochondriac so I love "Holby City" and "Casualty."

1,000ft-long Roger Moore is theme of York Maze this summer
They call him Greenfinger
FROM Star Trek to Big Ben to the Flying Scotsman, a maize maze prides itself on having a new design every year.
This summer's York Maze is a tribute to James Bond, with a 1,000ft-long image of Roger Moore.
Farmer and maze owner Tom Pearcy said: "As the year is 2007, I thought I'd design a 007 maze. It is also the 30th anniversary of my favourite Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore, so I've featured him."
On hearing that he was being featured, Sir Roger said: "I absolutely adore sweetcorn and I'd have quite happily chomped my way around the maze, but you've saved me the job."
The maze, on 32 acres next to the Grimston Bar park-and-ride, is off the A64 on the A1079 Hull Road. It will be open daily from Saturday, 10am to 7pm, with last admission at 5pm. Entry costs £5.95 for adults and £4.95 for children. Under-threes can get in free

Sir Roger Moore says he has not retired from film
SIR ROGER MOORE: 'I'M HAVEN'T RETIRED'
Former JAMES BOND star SIR ROGER MOORE has denied reports he is to quit the film industry, insisting he's not yet ready to retire from Hollywood. The 80-year-old actor has featured in a string of made-for-TV movies in recent years, but has not been seen on the big screen for the last five years, prompting speculation he is preparing for retirement. But Moore admits he is simply holding out for a "decent script" and a good wage. He says, "I'm not retired yet. If someone offers me a decent script with a nice schedule and a bit of dosh (money) to sweeten the deal, then I'm for hire!"

Not sure which of the UE dvd's it's off, but there is an interview with one of the leading fight co-ordinators who had worked on several major pictures and the previous Bond movies and he mentioned that Sir Rog threw one of the most convincing punches by any actor he had seen.james stock wrote:This is a great thread, why does Sir Roger not get the recognition he deserves? He played the role diversely, could be humourous, serious, tough when needed and i thought he perhaps was the most ruthless Bond.

Sir Rog does get a raw deal. Eveytime they introduce a new Bond he gets it. He has a quote some place about how he hates it when they hire a new guy because all of the press is about how this guy couldn't be any worse than Moore. Which isn't fair. He saved the frachise and was Bond, a guy you could respect and have fun watching. He continued the coolness Connery started
Any complaints about campyness gets dumped on the Broccoli's door. Although I have to give them credit for finding some of the coolest gadgets and new technology of the 70's
What he brought to the role was different, and perfect for the times. I can go back and watch just about any Moore movie (now perfectly remastered ) and have blast watching it. At nearly 80 he still looks remarkably good, especially next the that wonderful lithe young girl.
I shudder to thing of what Craig will look like at 45, forget about 80.

Wow! What a class act.
I'd known Lois from the beginning of my acting career, we were both drama students at Rada in 1944 and 1945.
We first played opposite each other in Pride and Prejudice. I was Darcy, she was Elizabeth. She was a very fine actress with a great sense of humour.
I think it was a great disappointment to her that she had not been promoted to play M. She would have been a wonderful M.
Lois was wonderful, absolutely perfect casting. It was a great pity that after I moved out of Bond, that they didn't take her on to continue in the Timothy Dalton films.
She had a tremendous sense of humour. She used to sing dirty songs, from the Canadian women's army in which she'd served.
We'd done a number of episodes of The Saint and The Persuaders together, so over the past 60 years I'd seen a great deal of her. But unfortunately, not over the last couple of years.
She had a quite a wide range of parts before she went into the Bond franchise. I'm afraid she got sort of typecast as Miss Moneypenny, that's what producers do, unfortunately, they put people in categories, they don't seem to move people out of them.
At the National Movie Awards, I presented an award to [Bond producers] Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson. It's a pity the timing was so bad, we really could have given her a tribute then.
