So the last composer was causing trouble with Craig and eon ?

That's how it would seem Big O, given the euphemism of "creative differences" for why he was let go.

Timely, this her first foray in the movie business not being backed up by her Daddys brand. Rhythm section looks to open below $8.5 million with holdovers burring it completely,

This is on babs, it’s her skill and her leadership. She’ll be confused because it the she put more care into this than bond .

My only worry is that between the critical (and almost certain commercial) failure of The Rhythm Section, and Craggy's departure, Babbzy will come to resent Bond even more, and cast Keith Lemon or somebody as the next Bond, purely out of spite.

I really don't know what to make of this Rhythm Section film. After a year of development hell it's finally hit theaters and has gotten absolutely zero promotion! I had forgotten all about it until I saw the one and only preview for it in the cinema a month ago, then I forgot about it again until Omega brought it up again now and I was keeping an eye on it for the EON connection!

My suspicion is EON wants to keep this project low key, if it's well received EON can then thump their chests and proclaim what great filmmakers they are and not just Bond trick ponies. On the other hand if it's a flop, which it most certainly appears to be, then they can just let it quietly slip off into obscurity never to be heard from again, no harm no foul.

Yep, eon is playing it cool on rhythm section, as if they never heard of it most news stories bill it as a paramount flop instead of a discounted EON flop

For me, part of the problem is the title. It sounds like a musical, not a spy/action thriller.

Well Forbes has it as a $50 EON production, one of them few to do so. But the writer goes on about online chatter not matching demand for real world ticket sales. Also had a line about “audiences not putting their money where their mouths are the folks clamoring for a female 007 didn’t show up. “

Really who where these people? Besides Babs. We have female driven blockbusters audiences will pay to see, so it’s not a question of audience existing or not. It’s putting a good movie out.

Besides as we’ve talked about many times before we’ve had plenty of female 007 wannabe movies. Salt would be a better of the examples. But spy movies in general do not make big money.
The female 007 has been done before and only now is Babs trying to put her foot in, she was so convinced it needs to be done she will try the idea twice in the span of only a couple of months.
IMO this debacle is proof of Babs lack of sense far as casting and story telling.

BTW I’d bet if you poll average movie goers on who is a female 007 marvels black widow will show up near the top. Not sure she is but audiences might buy she is one.

True.
Just by the name you’d think it’s a “drum line” kind of movie.
Rhythm section sounds like a throw back to Cold War name games, Red Orchestra, and other crap like that. Which at time made its way into Fleming’s books.

One other random point is Babs has never had to worry about names making sense, she and Craig didn’t even try to justify some of their titles.

Well, Skyfall is the only one of Craig's previous film titles not to be taken from Fleming, and NTTD was at least stolen from a Cubby Broccoli film. To be honest, all the Bond titles that don't have a Fleming connection are inferior to the ones that do. That doesn't just apply to films, but to books and comics/newspaper strips as well.

I was thinking of when Craig said that he didn’t know what the title meant and it’s all nonsense anyway, or words to that effect.

I agree about the non Fleming titles, some of closer to the feel of his titles like DAD, but lack the feel of Fleming’s touch.

If it wasn’t so sad it’d be funny how much Babs and Craig abandoned of the original series. Their narrative was: it’s a origin trilogy, bond begins, bond becomes bond,
They said we will never touch the third rail of remakes, Quantum isn’t spectre,
They did homages to goldfinger, homages to other bond movies,

We learned bond can fly anything, parachutes are optional, drink oil, M is for mommy, bond has land and a title, it’s home alone with better guns, it’s super polished car chase stunts nobody believes the actors are in the car for, it’s a brother complex, it is spectre after all, it’s ok to quit your government job and go awol again and again, it’s ok to go rogue again and again, finally 007 isn’t James Bond

Don't forget leap frog construction gantries, disarm 4 MI6 agents in an elevator while hand cuffed behind his back, survive a thousand foot fall into a puddle after getting shot off a train, survive drills boring into his temples without so much as a headache and shoot down helicopters with a popgun.

We've gotten 4 going on 5 "origin stories" wherein Bond quits each and every time, we're told how badly he wants to leave this life behind, yet we were never given a explanation as to why he joined the service in the first bloody place! Why did he become an agent and why does he keep coming back when all he does is moan on about how much he hates it? I guess the world will never know, at least not until Craig returns with digital de-aging (making him look only 62 years old) in Bond 26 No Time To Sky Fall At Casino Royale With Spectre... The Beginning!

Just saw the headlines for a story talking up rhythm section, “A gritty, anti-James Bond thriller”

Describes the Craig era
