This can be found at http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/news/a ... -bond.htmlRosamund Pike has revealed that her role in Johnny English Reborn is very different to that of her Bond girl.
Pike, whose involvement in the Rowan Atkinson spy spoof sequel was announced earlier this month, compared her upcoming part in the comedy to her character Miranda Frost in 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day.
According to The Mirror, she said: "Although it's a Bond spoof, it's nothing like being a Bond girl, because I've got a very interesting role to play actually.
"Not that the character in the Bond film wasn't interesting, but I don't get to play with guns or fight. There is a scene in a car, so there is an element of Bond about it. But she's quite a funny character."
The 31-year-old also said that Atkinson personally asked her to take part in the project.
"Rowan Atkinson came after he saw An Education and wanted me to do this part in the Johnny English film for him," she said. "It's a very, very funny script."

She was good in Surrogates.
Gemma was good in Clash and sucked in Prince of Persia so who knows what pike will be in Johnny English.

Wat is he problem with Bond, right after DAD she was putting it down. The whole Bond thing. I liked the first English and am liking forward to the new one. I will give he one thing she was a better vesper than vesper, far as actually having a flavor of her in the home office and being a mole

I don't think she was really putting it down, she is just saying this role is different.Dr. No wrote:What is her problem with Bond, right after DAD she was putting it down.

I remember her in the news right after DAD sort of putting down the whole Bond girl thing. Guess they all do now a days I don't think there is one in the last 10 years who hasn't. This isn't a normal Bond girl role, stuff like that. They always are the smae even whey they say they are not, we've seen vesper before, Tracy was unique I'll give her that. Must be a talking point like this is new territory for Bond. More ture now than when it was first used around 1987, it may not be where bond has gone before but foot print were fresh from Bourne.

Sad to say, there's a popular perception that the role of the Bond girl is simply to stand around in a bikini simpering "Oh, James". I'm not sure that was ever true (Stacey Sutton is the only one I can think of who comes close to that description), but the publicity machine obviously feels that they have to address those concerns. It's all part of this fear they have of appearing old-fashioned after nearly 50 years.Dr. No wrote:I remember her in the news right after DAD sort of putting down the whole Bond girl thing. I see Purvis and Wade are not writing the sequel. The new movie has a smashing cast - Rowan Atkinson, Gillian Anderson, Dominic West, Rik Mayall and Rosamund.

Wonder if Purvis and Wade writing Johnny helped push Bond towards "Gritty Reboot " mode. I've seen where some people try to blame Austin Powers for making fun of Bond so much that they couldn't continue with Brosnan. Yah right. Bond is more lampooned now more than ever had been before. I think Bourne had more to do with it that and a desire for critical acclaim in the right circles.

Thing is, the spoofs are still written like the reboot never happened, as the one from Breitbart's site quoted in another thread shows. If the aim was to change the public's perception of what a Bond film is like, it failed.Omega wrote:Wonder if Purvis and Wade writing Johnny helped push Bond towards "Gritty Reboot " mode.
