Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Post by FormerBondFan »

Is it possible that Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief will take the top spot at the box office and will it lose to Benicio del Toro's The Wolfman?

That looks good too. From what I have heard WAY scarier/gorier than the original!

Which one will most likely to top the US BO? Percy Jackson or Wolfman.

Pierce hasn't had any of his movies other than 3 of his 4 Bonds to take the box office gold since Mrs. Doubtfire.

Family movies tend to do better than R-rated ones at the US box office. So I think Percy.

Percy Jackson comes out on President's Day. Wouldn't Avatar still be #1 during that time?

What about the Abba movie?

Pierce doesn't need Boxoffice gold he need good roles in good movies. How many Boxoffice gold smashes has Sean Connery had. I can't think of any, maybe there is one or two. But we have such a regard for him as successful because he was in such a wide variety of good movies.

Nice to see Brosnan and Bean together in a movie again. I think lightning thief will do well, sounds exciting. Avatar will old news long before February

Well you are never going to happen then. Mamma Mia was high profile and made a lot of money. It didn't beat Dark knight but so what?

Thomas Crown is a pretty good icon to own and his Spy vs Stu sound like it could be funny.

I would like to see him do another action movie, something like Sean Connery's The Rock. EON wasted him with hackney and banal scripts and storylines when he was Bond, and GE was the only good one.

Goldeneye was very good but the others weren't too shabby either. I mean they were fun to watch and the story moved along. Die Anther Day had a great first hour and slightly too self-indulging self-aware celebration of the past movies second half. Casino Royale I thought was very very boring at parts. Definitely not a classic like License to Kill or Goldeneye or any of Brosnan's other Bond movies

I think you want to Brosnan to prove he is a Box office power after being dumped by the Bond people and his movies attacked. All he has to do is keep his head down and keep taking as much work as he can get. Like Sean Connery did.

What Pierce need is serious gritty action blockbuster. After being "fired" by EON, haters bashed him not only as Bond but as actor as well. They said he couldn't handle a dark and gritty Bond, which he very much wanted to do. If that's really he case, they need to watch The Fourth Protocol, The Tailor of Panama, and especially The Matador. Those movies show that he handle the darker side of Bond. And if not Bond, he can always do other action movies, and he hasn't done any action movie since DAD. If he's going to do these, he needs a right director, and Tarantino is the best choice. I know he doesn't need blockbusters to be successful, but I hate to see him reduce to something very low-key as well as all those bashing from haters. Like I said, he needs something like Connery's The Rock and something that would shove down the haters' throat.

That's almost a contradiction in terms. Yes, CR and the Bourne films were fairly gritty and did good business at the box office, but even their takings were low compared to CGI-heavy blockbusters like Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean or Spiderman, none of which could be described as gritty.
