Supervillain Lair for Sale

Post by commander0077again »

The Royal Norwegian Navy is selling their "secret" submarine base:

This looks like a winner.

I already have a secret base but I'm not going to say where it is. FormerBondfan knows - he is there now watching Steven Seagal movies on Five USA.

There are probably some places that aren't quite secret lairs, but they're remote enough. And that's the problem. My nephew is at a Scout Camp in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico right now-hopefully fires won't be an issue.

We got some rain and it cooled some.

Where in NM? Should be fine I don't think any fires are down there and NM has enough desert to fire block, we seem to get these bad fires every 10 years some of it is because trees and undergrowth growing back. At one time forestry were aggressive at maintaining it.

He's at the Scout camp in Philmont-I think the closest city is Taos.Get this though:It's so remote that it took a 28 hour train trip and another couple hour car ride to get there.

Thats a lot closer than I though its north of Las Vegas NM, I think he'd have to take a train the Albq then drive north on hwy 25. No trains to speak of in the four corners area. Taos is near there as places are "near" out here, probably a 2 or 3 hour drive. Closest fire to him is the one near here north of Pagosa (hours and hours away).

Believe me, I've had my fair share of epic adventures going to and coming back from places(the most memorable one was coming home from my cousin's wedding. We left, mid-afternoon from New Orleans and we were supposed to go home by way of Atlanta. But because of bad weather it went like this:New Orleans-South Carolina-Atlanta-San Diego. We got home at 2:30 in the morning(and on my mom's birthday no less!)

Sounds like a great trip! I've never been to the US so a 28 hours train trip there would be fun.

I've never been any further than Santa Ana on the train(only about an hour ride, BTW). Not sure about a 28-hour train ride, though!

I've always wanted to go on one of those Amtrak trains. And the Orient Express too.

There's a connection to the Bond films with the Orient Express.. and it really is a trip of a lifetime. It's fairly expensive thought, IIRC, right up there with going on a Cunard cruise ship. I decided I want to make some dents in my bucket list(doing that with the family cruise to Alaska next month 8) ) so I am saving up for a trip to Australia by 2014-2015. :martini:

I did take the Orient Nonexpress up the east China coast six years back. I went with three new friends I met in Fuzhou, they were fluent Mandarin speakers, so Commander 0077 just sat back and enjoyed while all the details were worked out, I had no idea of the itinerary, but it was a two day train trip up classic Bondian scenary along the Yellow River. Just on the train, we had interesting times ... we had a private compartment, and next to ours was a "MIss Wong" a sexy experienced woman. One of my first glances of her was she was standing in the aisle (our door was open) posed with her knee out, gazing pensively out the windows. We made her acquaintance, and she invited us to stopover at her home city on our return trip. We also met a very nice policeman who was moonlighting as a train guard. He was rather big fellow, about 6-2 and 230 lbs, and very friendly, and interested that Cmdr 077 was from America (the ordinary Chinese likes Americans, by the way; I noted this time and time again). He offered to be our bodyguard, which we declined, but we did meet him later in his home city, where I happened to meet a beautiful girl, which was another mission with some backstory.
But back to Miss Wong: on our return we hired a car and drove to meet her at a lakeside restaurant, where she brought along two young friends. One was very pretty, and the other was a real Bond girl, kid you knot. She was the manager of a beauty supply store, so that had something to do with her perfect clothes, hair, etc etc. If she had acting talent, she could be a star. But here was a super looking girl who was also a hard worker, what a combination. So kuds to Miss Wong! It pays to be nice to older women!

I've talked to GoldenEye, and he has offered to pay for all the DCINB forum members to go on The Orient Express for the DCINB annual outing.

If Goldeneye can pad the MI-etc. budget, then perhaps he can back us at the Macao casinos ... but no Texas hold 'em, pleeze.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the shot of in Die Another Day features Bond with the Island's Peak in the background. Actually, the Yacht Club is on the Island, Causeway Bay, not Kowloon -- the mainland.
