Spoof Essex Bond film is warning on alcohol

Post by Blowfeld »

http://www.thisistotalessex.co.uk/Spoof ... story.htmlSUAVE secret agent James Bond oozes style and sex appeal as he sips dry martinis, dominates high-stakes poker games and kills evil henchmen with a flick of his watch.

No matter how many cocktails he puts away, 007 never seems to get drunk.

But in Shaken and Slurred, a spoof made by the Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership, Bond ends up shaken and slurred after knocking back too many Martinis at a ritzy casino.

In Shaken and Slurred, a hammered Bond, played by British actor Jay Sutherland, waves his gun around, shoots a dart into a fellow gambler while checking the time and then uses his car's ejector seat on his date.

Mike Webb, alcohol leader at the Essex Drug and Alcohol Action Team (EDAAT) said: "The film is humorous, however we hope viewers take away the serious message that excessive drinking affects others therefore it's important to drink responsibly whilst enjoying a night out or in."

EDAAT is part of the Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership, which works with communities to combat binge drinking.

They have taken their James Bond-inspired show on the road for Alcohol Awareness Week 2011, which started on Monday.

Admin manager Denise Evans and mid-Essex leader Rachel Hampton have been trudging through the streets of Chelmsford dressed as giant beer bottles to get their message across.

They were at the High Chelmer shopping mall on Monday to educate shoppers, and then ran a mocktails event at Project 114 on Springfield Road, Chelmsford, on Tuesday. Project 114 helps youngsters battle drug and alcohol problems.

The project's manager Kerry Clancey-Horner, of the Essex Young Persons Drug and Alcohol Service (EYPDAS), said the slaughtered secret agent has proved a hit among the youth of Essex.

"It's a great marketing campaign in terms of getting people involved," said Kerry, who has worked for the service for 20 years.

"It's a humorous approach with a serious message – drinking too much can cause harm to you and to others around you.

"We want everybody to be informed of the risks of binge drinking – the health risks, the associated sexual health risks and the violence."

Deputy manager Mark Munday, a veteran of 11 years with the service, added: "Binge drinking has an effect on people around you.

"Drink driving is the obvious one, but a lot of violence is alcohol-related. So we try to show youngsters about the strengths of alcohol.

"Things like alcopops are very easy to drink, but they don't realise how strong they are.

"We are targeting younger and older people with this campaign and we think it is going well."

Kerry said: "You are never going to completely get a handle on the problem of binge drinking – we try to promote the services available so people can get the help they need.

"We like strong campaigns that promote the message of people staying safe."

Tomorrow the roadshow will be at Cressing Temple Barns for the day.

"Those were the days when we still associated Bond with suave, old school actors such as Sean Connery and Roger Moore,"
