loan Gruffudd is desperate to be the next James Bond.

The 33-year-old Welsh actor conceded he will have to spend a few more years bulking up his slim physique before he can step into Daniel Craig's impressive shoes.

He is quoted by Britain's Daily Express newspaper as saying: "I would love to play Bond one day but I think I am 10 years too young. Physically, I am not quite big enough. Of course, I could go to the gym!

"Maybe in seven years time when Daniel is done and tired of it and can retire a very rich man - then maybe I could step into his shoes."

loan - who previously played comic book action hero Reed Richards in 'Fantastic Four' - praised Daniel's debut Bond outing in 'Casino Royale'.

He added: "I think he's been absolutely brilliant as James Bond. I thought he was superb. He just nailed it."

Daniel's second 007 movie, 'Bond 22', is out next year.

loan has just finished shooting 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer'.

Let's not even joke about him being James Bond.
If you don't like Craig then this guy would be ripped apart.
He's the same height as Craig...and he's not very good looking...and well he's Welsh. :wink:

In what way does he look like Bond that Craig does not? He's 5'11" the same as Craig so he can't be according to some and he's far to skinny to play the role.

Well, I'm not one of those people who makes an issue of Craig's height, but even if Gruffudd isn't that tall, he is at least dark and handsome, so two out of three ain't bad (it's two more than Craig, anyway). And he could always bulk up, the way Craig did.

I'm not real enthused with the idea of Ioan being Bond. he isn't a bad actor, but when I see him I don't see Bond. kinda like when I look at Daniel Craig. so Barbara Broccoli will probably put him on her short list for when Craig retires.

Gruffudd is too handsome to be Bond and he's too slight. Everyone knows James Bond is supposed to be a squat bodybuilder with a crewcut.
