Craig in younger days wasn't suave to be Bond, says Palmer
From our ANI Correspondent
Washington, April 10: British (ex-soap) actress Patsy Palmer has revealed that she was stunned to see Daniel Craig portray James Bond in 'Casino Royale', for she never thought him to be suave enough to play the 007 agent.
The British hunk was booed by Bond fans before 'Casino Royale' was released, but his performance in the movie put all his critics' barbs to rest.
Palmer recalled the days when she worked with Craig on an episode of UK sitcom 'Drop The Dead Donkey' in the early 90s, and said that she could never think that the actor was suitable for playing James Bond because he was not suave at that moment.
"He was very talented but I never in a million years imagined he would be James Bond. Those were the days when we still associated Bond with suave, old school actors such as Sean Connery and Roger Moore," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
"Daniel didn't have a hint of suave about him," she added.

Re: Patsy Palmer (!): Craig not suave
Hmm, I watched Drop The Dead Donkey sometimes, but I don't remember either Craig or Patsy Palmer being in it.carl stromberg wrote:Palmer recalled the days when she worked with Craig on an episode of UK sitcom 'Drop The Dead Donkey' in the early 90s, and said that she could never think that the actor was suitable for playing James Bond because he was not suave at that moment.

I would like to see her views after watching CR, not talk about the past. I think nobody expected Craig to be cast as Bond so that really isn't anything new.

It was a sitcom set in a TV newsroom. Some scenes were actually shot on the day of transmission, so that the jokes could be ultra-topical. The title refers to the lightweight stories that act as fillers on slow news days, but get pushed out when real news comes in. The original title was Dead Belgians Don't Count (from the reprehensible habit of British news broadcasts in only counting the number of Britons killed in major natural disasters and ignoring casualties from other countries), but shortly before the show started, a ferry capsized off the coast of Zeebrugge, with much loss of life, so the title was changed at the last minute on taste and decency grounds.paco chaos wrote:Drop The Dead Donkey??! what kind of show was that? it seems to be absent on BBC America.
