The GoldenEye screenwriter (he got a "story by" credit) passed away last week.

Jeffrey Caine and Bruce Feirstein are the ones wrote the script, based on Michaels story as you said. (I'm trying to remember who's name came up in the GoldenEye reboot debacle, )

51 is awfully young.
The writer of Gross Point Blank Tom Jankiewicz similarly died this year very suddenly at the age of 50. He was attending a special showing of Gross point Blank at California State University and collapsed during the Psychology class Q&A.
