I kind of want to see Brightburn, James Gunn's "what if Superman was evil?" superhero horror film. It's obviously going to do horror film numbers rather than superhero film numbers, though.

I didn’t know what that movie was about until recently. I want to see but not waste a trip to the movies on it. Probably get it digital early release

Dark Phoenix and secrecy life of pets under preform.

Dark Phoenix was one that Disney almost cut to rebrand X-men in their marvel universe. I know a little of the story and it good. Many fans were afraid fox would get it wrong

Haven’t even talked about Godzilla two bombing, I hated the WB reboot, never finished skull island, no intention to see Godzilla two.
I get the source material, the corny B monster movie roots. Something was off in the last two WB movies, either they took it too seriously or didn’t get the source.

Even worse news comes in for WB's Shaft, which brought in an estimated $2.7 million on Friday and is looking to settle outside the top five with a three-day gross around $7-8 million. Samuel 'big mouth' Jackson bombed in a stand alone film. He gets charity roles in major productions giving the impression he has any influence on those box office bonanzas.

Well. It was kind of under the radar. Until a month ago I had no idea a sequel was on the way. Total budget is like $35 million.
I doubt they had faith in it launching it against mib Sony is actually spending money on.

I didn't know about it until BJ mentioned it. A bit strange that they gave it the same name as the previous Shaft movie.

The Shaft film played to a crowd that was 54% female :?: :!:  They were "shafted" in their wallets paying money to see this trash :!:

I just read that the new Shaft movie is only being released theatrically in the US and Canada. It's going straight to Netflix in the rest of the world.

On the surface shaft has a good theater count. I just never heard any promotions and what I did hear made me think it was a cgi set right after the first movie. I think it was a WB attempt at playing the race card hoping the black community would go to shaft like a Tyler perry movie. Could be they are honestly trying to feel out movie that night play well to other ethnic groups , my guess is it’s a throwaway for them since they gave Netflix the movie in the rest of the world.

Toy story does big business

We went to mib international, actually a good sequel to the original MIB. Better than mib 2 & 3

What were expectations? $100 million. Weekend seems good to me. Seeing as every movie opening since John wick 3 and Aladdin seem to under preform I thought Disney broke the trend
